It's Coming!

Dearest Amazing people (yes, that’s you), 

First off, we’re overwhelmed with how patient you’ve been with us. It’s been great to be working with such fantastic people who have been so supportive of the Trigger Happy dream, which is very soon to become a Trigger Happy reality. That being said, we have some bad news, some great news and some …”meh” news: 

To make a long story short, we had more issues with our manufacturer that have put us far (and we mean like in a galaxy far, far away) from our original deadlines, for which we are extremely sorry and embarrassed about. 

However, we have some great news! We received some of the Trigger Happy Remotes and we’re shipping them out this week! Before you start bounding around the house with uncontrolled outbursts of excitement, we haven’t gotten our hands on all the units yet, so we can only ship them out as fast as we get them. 

We’re working night and day to make sure you get all the sweet, awesomeness that is the Trigger Happy Remote, so hang in there! Trigger Happy is coming to a mailbox near you! …unless you don’t have a mailbox, then it’ll just come to your door, probably …or where ever you get your mail.

      I didn`t get mine yet, but I have a cable that fits both jacks, camera`s and iPhone 4S`s. I tried it and the only thing the camera did was take pictures on and on, the only way to stop was removing the cable from one end, from what I understood it`s the same as Erik reported.
      Did anyone get the cable yet and was able to use it successfully?

      Received my cable on Saturday. Played around with it Saturday night briefly while at work but couldn't get it to do a thing. When plugging in the cable, shutter released with camera already on. With camera off and cable plugged in, shutter release immediately upon turning on the camera.

      None of the different modes in the app do anything for the camera. Manual fire, nada. Interval, nothing. Volume is all the way up on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus using E3 cable on a Canon 60D. I tried the camera itself on various modes (tried bulb exposure as most likely and nothing).

      I looked for any documentation on the website and didn't find much, and certainly nothing that helped solved my lack of functionality. Any help would be appreciated guys.

      Ken logs on daily but ignores the backers daily with feedback or communication.
      No information on what type of cables have shipped.
      No information on when the other types of cables will ship.
      No information on the Android Application (status or location) that was supposed to be available already.
      No nothing.

      After reading Kens response above, I'm willing to wait for a working product rather than receive something that isn't in perfect working condition just so you save face. We paid, you built, now deliver, or at the very least fill up our inboxes with updates.

      I got the three cables. Still waiting on the three way splitter. Downloaded the app for my phone, plugged it all in, turned up the volume on my phone and couldn't get it to do anything. Tried everything. Is there any thing special I am missing? Sony alpha 550. And yes when I unplugged the cable I could hear it making noise. Is there a option in the app to set it for my camera?

      I'm assuming you are trying to build a company, not just a single product. An essential part of building a company is developing loyal customers. You do this by communicating. Not by vague, general statements that you issue weeks after a self-imposed deadline has passed. Please consider giving those of us who had faith in you some timely, honest, concise, and up front information.

      Like most people, I regard the money pledged as disposable. It's not what I need to live on. When things get sorted out we'll be some of the first people to get an amazing product, and we'll also have the satisfaction of knowing we played a small part.

      I agree with Stefan. Although I'm as sad as everyone else with the delays, I think that's just part of the journey. And Kickstarter is also about the journey along the road to entrepreneurship.

      @four12: If you need something now, you should buy it. Kickstarter is *not* an online shop. You did not "buy" a trigger happy unit, you invested in an idea. this is what kickstarter is all about - hence the name - you give money to "kickstart" an awesome idea, and in return, you get something for it. Since it is a product you're investing, you get the product itself. When the project goes bad, you get nothing at all - your investment went to hell. If you can't handle this, you should stay off kickstarter, 'cause I'm waiting for the day, when a very well backed project goes very bad and the outcry gets very loud. It will happen someday.

      I have backed 4 projects so far, and none of them were on time. Hell, I even know a project that got funded one year ago and is *still* working out manufacturing issues. Thats just the way it is. When you need something now, go to an onlineshop of your choice and order it. Kickstarter is not what you are looking for.

      *Another* manufacturing defect found, this time in the Canon/C3 connectors and an unknown resolution date?

      I'd ask for my money back, but I know that is a moot point. I'm going to go buy a Triggertrap remote. I need the capability now, not "as soon as we can find a competent manufacturer".

      What I was trying to say....I can be patient for a good working finished product. I am not complaining about the time frame. I just think that if you ask us to back you, and part of your sales pitch is that we are going to get this product for $20 off the Retail Price, and then, after we fully fund your project, 9 times over, you decide that you are going to sell the product to "everyone else" for the same price. In other words, you enticed us to fund and pre-pay for something, and you promised us a discount of $20 off the retail price of $69.95 - but the retail price is showing as $49.95. Are you going to give us all $20 refunds ??? I have backed 22 projects this year - yours, with your lack of updates and lack of responses, make this the first one that I am regretting.

      @arnotron and @Pat Heiden: I agree with you. Late update or delivering the rewards is very common for projects on Kickstarter, but selling the final product with less price (even a bit) is 'Special'. My guessing is they can't compete the price with triggertrap.com, which total cost $30 for everything (Excluded Shipping).

      Can we expect any design flaws, low quality cable, etc from the first batch? These delays around the manufacturing process are somewhat disturbing to me. I also agree with Kris, there are more options on the market today with more features at a lower price point. What is TriggerHappy going to do about that?

      Agree. This is getting ridiculous. Signed up as this was one of first to market and now one of last There are now better options with more features and at half the price like trigger trap. I hope you do something to appease your initial backers

      I do nt understand the comments about the price. As I understand manufacturing, costs go down as the number of units manufactured goes up. I do not know anything, but it seams you are upset because some one is paying the same amount you did. What's the problem?

      While I agree more updates would be nice, I would rather the founders spend as much time as possible on the manufacturing issues. Everyone needs to take a big breath and relax.

      Although I will ask if you have even an inclining of a date. I'm off to Iceland in October to photograph the Northern Lights (pray for clear skies for me!) and was hoping to use this then. Not that I'm trying to queue jump but it would be helpful for my planning to know if I might have it in my hand by mid-October or if I should be ordering a cheapo regular intervalometer online.

      I agree with both above posts. When pledges are money are involved I think it's reasonable to ask for more definite wording than "very soon" and "some units". You're on the same calendar we all use, send specific numbers and dates or lock down a new deadline and let us decide whether or not that suits our needs. Stop passing the buck and laying the blame on manufacturing. Terrible way to do business.

      Hi Kevin,

      I do agree with Phillip - little confusing. I assume the great is you got some and are shipping them, the bad - it will be much longer for the remaining ones to ship - the "meh" I am not sure.. My input to this is the same. You just got funded 2 months ago, your expectations reflect your young eagerness your naiveté to "the process of things" - The best you are already doing, that is all which should be expected. The important point is to make darn sure the product is perfect before you ship. The loudest mouth will be silent upon receipt of a perfect product - maybe not happy. But to me, a backer in a product/business obviously is aware of risk and should be supportive - it is the nature of business. You ship a mature product when it is ready the rest will take care of itself. Focus on a realistic time frame - get plenty of sleep to endure the pace. As you know it is a very tough and stressful ride. PS Please ship me one of the last of your product - I would rather wait for a more mature product. Keep up the good work and don't let the "noise" pressure you into poor decisions. History tells us your first product design will need "tweaking" after it has been out in the field for a while as I am sure you are aware. Good Luck, your doing fine as I see it. Just keep us in the loop - be straight (as you are) - focus on accurate estimates - it is an art..

      I'm confused by this post. You say you're going to be shipping soon, and then you say that you're far away from your original deadlines by quite a bit. Is this to say that you're shipping now which is a month or two past your original deadlines, and the manufacturing delays are taken care of now? Regardless, some clarification would be appreciated.
