FUNDED! And our first stretch goal...

You did it. We honestly can’t believe it – we get to make another Amplitude and play it with you guys. It’s incredible.

We’re reeling from the news and we’re incredibly humbled by the support from all of you.

We still have 20 hours to go – so we’re going to throw out a stretch goal.

A killer 4-player local multiplayer experience and asynchronous features like leaderboards were always a part of the core experience that we plan to deliver. So why is “Online Synchronous head-to-head Multiplayer” our first stretch goal? This feature has been at the top of our “dream features to add” lists since the beginning. We worked out a few different stretch goal scenarios, and we’ve decided to dive in headfirst and go for the gold, instead of putting any smaller roadblocks ahead of that goal.

The amount that separates us from that goal is lofty – it may seem crazy optimistic to think that we could hit it. But it was just 2 days ago that folks were writing articles about how this Kickstarter had no chance of hitting our targets, and you guys proved them wrong.

The money we’re asking for, as is the case for the entire Kickstarter, isn’t the total cost of the feature – we’re risking the remaining budget out of pocket because we want to see online multiplayer in the game as well. You’ve probably heard the “I know it seems like a lot of money, but games are really expensive” speech at this point, so I’ll spare you.

So tell all your friends that you play games online with – Amplitude is going to be a reality. They should back now, lock in their code, and push this game towards the realm where you can all play online together. We think that this feature would be an amazing way to expand the game and compete with your friends. We hope you agree.

This is going to be a white knuckle ride down to the end. We can’t begin to thank you enough for your support – let’s close this thing out right!

PS. To clarify, since we might get questions - as we said in the Kickstarter pitch from the beginning, the game has always had online elements – no matter if we hit this stretch goal or not, we plan to do leaderboards & asynchronous online competition – and of course we’ll have awesome LOCAL multiplayer elements that will make your living room a face-melting battle arena. But Online Synchronous head-to-head Multiplayer was always just out of scope.

I wish they told us about the stretch goal earlier !

No worries man, I did read it. My point is that many of the more mainstream Harmonix game have had a mixed soundtrack of which some good and some just there because its popular music at the time. I don't have much fear that this will turn into the same thing especially since its a Digitial Title and not the "next big PS3/PS4 game" to sit on store shelves.

I'm confident in Harmonix to make this game as good if not better than the last one or I wouldn't have put my money into this Kickstarter. It's more a "voice of the fans" approach to let them know what we want.

    3. Liam Potter on May 23, 2014

@david sorry this may come across a little dickish, but have you read anything on this kickstarter about the music? It's going to be nearly all in house produced, with an electronic vibe.

    4. David Reid on May 23, 2014

My biggest hope is that you guys realize that this game was somewhat hardcore enough where we don't need the latest Bruno Mars song or Lady Gaga in it. The initial track listing for the original was so unique, even with the few songs that were mildly mainstream like Papa Roach. I'm looking for some fresh beats, original songs and obscure bands that maybe most people don't know about but their songs deliver a huge punch to the face when playing. I still love freezepop to this day because of the original frequency and amplitude.

Also I think it's safe to say that with the rise of DubStep I can only image what happens in the "drop" when the game is fully completed. So freaking excited and excited for you guys that your fans got behind you. Rock On!

    5. Michael Neth on May 23, 2014

The collaborative tracks from bands was one of the best parts about the old games. Frequency by Fear Factory is still awesome. :)

It would be nice if some of the "DJ Harmonix" and other in-house tracks from FreQuency and Ampltidue found a new home in this version...

"You're so cool, baby!! Ah, ah, ah!!"
"You're. inside. my. mind... I. want. to. be... synthesized!'
      "Komputer Kontroller... Komputer Kontroller..."

I would have preferred a PS Vita release for a stretch goal, but eh!

Alright! Time for you guys to get to work.

I've pledged as much as I can sadly, but I'll be sharing this.

    14. Joey Sundberg on May 22, 2014

Congratulations! I'm so excited. I hope we get some older Frequency songs as playable, like Higher Ground and Motomatic!

Jack: Asynchronous is things like leader/scoreboards and ghost competition. Synchronous means everyone playing at once.

    16. William Walint on May 22, 2014

Congratulations! I was so worried about this Kickstarter.

Yeah the stretch goals would have probably helped get more backers because that feature sounds awesome. You should do it anyways even if you can't hit the stretch goal, just release it as a patch or something down the line once you get sales in.

    28. John Cardy on May 22, 2014

Yay we made it but whoa at the stretch goal seems forever away for such a short amount of time that will end up being mostly over night. I also hope for vita support...

    29. Stephen Jonke on May 22, 2014

It's fantastic that this made it, bit I'd also greatly prefer Vita support to online. I'll play and enjoy this on PS4, but being able to take it on the road would have been amazing. Hopefully after it's released you can fit in a Vita version somehow.

    30. YinofYang on May 22, 2014

What amazing news! Congrats! I am so excited. Now, I need to watch out for Amplitude Addiction as I had a very serious case of it back then. ;)

Time to back out, I only own a vita, so i was holding out hope, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Good luck Harmonix, I'll pick it at retail later if I get PS3/4

    32. Ben Prendergast on May 22, 2014

A shame you didn't put the stretch goals up front. This multiplayer feature would have got more backers for sure! If only I had 3k in expendable income!

    34. Lawrence Chu on May 22, 2014

Congratulations! Hope for online synchronous multiplayer.

With twenty hours to go, maybe you should release another stretch goal so people can see a roadmap. :-)

Also, should Amplitude HD sell well enough, would it be possible to see future stretch goals implemented as updates anyway?

    35. Jeffrey Lanane on May 22, 2014

      Congrats on making it!

    36. Brian Pinter on May 22, 2014

Would prefer Vita version to online support.
