The book has been written and edited, so by backing this project you are guaranteed to see the novel released within weeks of a successfully funded project. The Kickstarter campaign isn't to fund myself sat at my desk drinking coffee and writing chapter after chapter (Been there already)! It is being created in order to tackle the independent publishing machine, which involves a lot of expenses and time commitment.
The money raised through kickstarter will go towards things like the Vellum software required to finalise a book manuscript, the ISBN numbers needed for cataloging, barcodes, book printing costs for the paperback (it's very expensive for a short run so the more book perks that are taken up the more feasible this whole endeavour becomes). On top of that there are postage costs, which believe it or not, take up a whopping 30% of the whole campaign target based on 100 books so it's easy to see why it's such a task to replicate the publishing beast.
I have been speaking with independent book shops in my home town of Brighton and Hove, who will be stocking the book, provided this campaign is a success and a paperback can go to print.
Here is a little taster of the book: click here to read the prologue
Richard comes from a background of working in the Film and Television industry and has been actively writing since the age of 14 when he discovered his passion for storytelling through making short films.
Since then he has developed his storytelling interests as both a musician and novelist and continues to work as a director of photography and camera operator in the film industry with credits on recent projects How to build a Girl (written by Caitlin Moran) Military Wives, The Last Boy and Break.

After years of development, many talented people have been involved with the project. You can see some of the concept art work from Jamie Bishop below.
The campaign aims to get the book into your hands as soon as possible and you can see below a list of what's available. For the UK, all physical copies include postage and the reward tier has been set to encompass postage costs.
Harmion began as a short film whilst I was studying Film and Video at university in South Wales, 2003-2006. It's hard to imagine spending 15 years of my life dedicated to one project ever again (admittedly it's been on and off) but it seems like the project has come full circle at last.
Ultimately this campaign is about sharing the story of Harmion and that won't be possible without your support.
So finally, the book is ready to hit the public domain and with your help it could be an exciting and successful independent launch! With two more books already in the development stage, this new fantasy series could unfold over the coming years.
Thanks for taking a look at the Harmion Kickstarter campaign!
1. Delivery Schedule
1.1 The Delivery Schedule is a best estimate at the current time of writing and is subject to factors such as printing time and shipping. For any one based in the UK the intended delivery date for the paperback will be mid July. Outside of the UK it can be expected to take slightly longer, allowing for international shipping.
1.2 If the delivery schedule changes for reasons outside of the authors control (things like illness or sunken shipping containers lost at sea), Backers will be notified immediately with an update for a new delivery schedule.
2.1 Richard A. Swingle asserts the moral right to be associated as the author of these Works.

Risks and challenges
Thankfully most of the hard work has been done already in order to reduce risks. That means that if the campaign is successful the green light will be given to the professional book printing company the very next day.
That is not to say that a lot of work won't still need to be done and it will be challenging but the ambition is to get the book into as many hands as possible and as soon as possible after the campaign ends.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
