Rainier Falls is an immersive, site-specific experience that invites twelve audience members to the fictional town of Rainier Falls as guests of a housewarming party. Guests can expect the humor, melodrama and subtle sense of preternatural evil that comes with moving back home. It is the newest production from Harlow Fowler, premiering on May 18, 2019 in anticipation of a full run in Fall 2019. In true Harlow Fowler fashion, it will be funny, weird and a little bit sad.
Welcome to Rainier Falls: Population 5,120.
Beloved Rainier Falls residents Henry Brandt and Gloria Johnson invite you to a housewarming party in honor of their dear childhood friend, Genevieve Orlick, who has just returned to her family home in the woods following the death of her older, reclusive sister.
Join Henry and Gloria for a lovely evening of warm festivities and charming entertainment, and please pay no mind to the darkness in the woods.
The events of Rainier Falls will unfold within the enchanted walls of Wildrence, an environment specifically designed by architects Jae Lee and Yvonne Chang to bring to life immersive works of all shapes and sizes.
We are working with a phenomenal team of talent to create a world rich with textures that blurs the line between the ordinary and the imagined and lives in the tension between the two:
- Writer and long-time collaborator Curtis Retherford on the multi-track script, sound design and original music.
- A cast of talented NYC-based actors and musicians, including Morgan Phillips, Alessandra Migliaccio, Eliza Kingsbury, Leila Ben-Abdallah and Deborah Napier, along with special guests Max & Nicky and others.
Rainier Falls is produced and directed by Harlow Fowler (Ellena Doe and Gia Ingram), an NYC-based theater company that produces experimental works for intimate audiences. Harlow Fowler produced ten unique shows in their well-received Liminal Salon series between 2018-2019 and continues to produce them quarterly. Rainier Falls is their first immersive play.
Rainier Falls is debuting on May 18, 2019 in downtown Manhattan. There are 12 tickets available for the full dress rehearsal and 12 tickets available to the Spring Premiere as Kickstarter rewards for your support.
We are also in the process of producing a longer run of the show tentatively scheduled for Fall 2019 (approximately October). Official dates will depend on venue, cast and crew availability, and they will be announced to backers as soon as they are confirmed. Early Access Tickets to the run are also available as Kickstarter rewards for your support.
In addition to artifacts from the world of the show, there are two tiers of rewards for out-of-town supporters to "attend" the show in spirit, for those who may not be able to experience the show in person. You can either submit a teenage photo of yourself that will be framed and included in the show, or you can provide your first and last name to one of the characters mentioned in the dialogue of the show.
Our $6,500 goal will cover all initial costs for the Dress Rehearsal and Spring Premiere to take place on May 18, 2019 at Wildrence in Downtown Manhattan. This includes venue costs, rehearsal costs, production design, costumes, props, sound design, music recording, cast, crew and staff. It will also lay much of the groundwork for our run in Fall 2019 since we will already have our sound, music and production design established.

Risks and challenges
The Dress Rehearsal and Spring Premiere of "Rainier Falls" are scheduled for May 18, 2019. Barring any severe unforeseen circumstances the shows will take place on that day. The challenges for the Fall 2019 run are currently negotiating locations and dates with venues, and the risk is that the show run may occur earlier or later than the anticipated October 2019 date stated in the rewards. We will continue to be transparent with our backers and communicate any changes and/or issues as they arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
