Finding Home is an award-winning LGBT romance comic that explores nature, magic, mental health recovery and relationships.
Torn between the fae and human worlds, Chepi got used to being alone - that is, until he met Janek. Janek is unguarded, straightforward, and longs to return home to his friends and family - but there may not be a place for Chepi in Janek’s old life.
As they grow closer on their long journey together, Chepi struggles with anxiety, past trauma, and his complicated new feelings for Janek. Janek doesn’t understand his friend’s hesitance and is unsure if the spark he feels between them is even real. With time running out before their journey ends and dangers lurking on the path before them, can they make it home at all?
Volume 1 is available in print here, online as a webcomic; or as a PDF on Gumroad and Comixology. In the second volume of the Finding Home trilogy, find out more than ever before about the characters' pasts, the world, and the magic that flows through it.
The goal of this Kickstarter is to print Volume 2 (chapters 5-8) of Finding Home as a beautiful, 196 page book with improved readability and colours, plus extra content and info about the world.
The comic is also being gradually posted online as a webcomic (here) but the free webcomic version is a long way behind - Volume 2 will finish posting mid-2020.
Backing this Kickstarter not only gives you the chance to get a physical book and exclusive rewards, but also lets you read Volume 2 early, long before it’s available as a webcomic, as well as offline, and ad-free.

Traveller's bundle tiers and above come with two hard enamel pins, one based on each of the main characters.
Higher tiers come with exclusive sweatshirts, with a screenprinted design to match the pin, and available in XS-2XL unisex sizing. These will be printed on responsibly, ethically manufactured garments from continental - more info here.
For the first time, four pages of original pencil drawings made for and used in Finding Home will be available in The Pact tier. Hi-res photos and closeups available here.
Original drawings will be posted framed, with tracked delivery where possible. (Royal mail tracking is available in the US, Canada, most of Europe, Australia, Russia and many other countries. Please check here or get in contact if you're not sure whether tracked services are available in your country!)
I'm extremely excited to have three incredible illustrators, all of whom I'm a huge fan of, creating guest art for this project. All special tiers (travellers bundle and above) will include a 3-print set, printed silk-finish on card stock, with Finding Home art by the following artists:
Hello, I’m Hari, a queer, disabled comic artist and illustrator based in the UK. I've been making Finding Home since 2016, but I've been working on the characters and ideas for much longer - this comic includes a lot of themes I’ve been thinking about for a long time. Collecting and printing Finding Home as whole, complete graphic novels means a huge amount to me, and wouldn't be possible without reader support.
Alongside working in comics, I do freelance illustration in educational & fantasy publishing, and have also worked on art for film, animation and tabletop games. I design and sell products and clothing in my shop, write & edit other books, do comic cons and, in the time that leaves free, play too much D&D.
- Will there be stretch goals?
I’m extremely happy to say that the kickstarter has now met its goal! Thanks so much to everyone who's pledged, it means a huge amount and I'm really excited for everyone to read this book.
Any money raised above the goal will mostly be used to fulfil the extra rewards and really helps the project continue! But if the project does get up to higher levels, a few stretch goals will be possible, which I'm really excited about...
8K STRETCH GOAL: Gold foil prints
A special thank-you print added to all physical tiers. These will be A6 in size, feature a new piece of art (see below!) and include ✧ gold foiling ✧
10K STRETCH GOAL: Guest art print upgrades
All guest art prints will be upgraded to a thicker card stock with an improved matte finish, and the guest artists themselves will each get a bonus for their hard work.
Further goals will be announced if they unlock~
- Do I need to read Volume 1 first?
It's not required - but yes, the story is sequential! Volume 1 is available as a special 'Enchanted Tomes' catchup tier, and included as a PDF at higher pledge levels.
- Why is the book/shipping more expensive than volume 1?
Mostly because the book is longer than volume 1 (almost 200 pages compared with about 150). The higher page count (combined with rising prices post-brexit) does just mean the book will be more expensive to print.
It also means the book will be heavier and more expensive to post, especially for backers outside the UK. The ebook / PDF version has been kept the same price, with a discount on the digital bundle, to make sure there's affordable options for readers overseas.
- What's the money being used for?
The majority of the money will go towards printing costs for the book, followed by postage, rewards (including guest art) and Kickstarter fees.
- What age is this comic suitable for?
I normally describe Finding home as older teen or 16+ as a guide - it broadly matches guidelines for a film rated 15 by the British Board of Film Classification.
This isn’t a hard and fast rule - the comic does not include explicit images, but the story does include strong language, as well as themes about sexual relationships and touching on trauma and mental health issues. The book itself will have warnings with page numbers included on the contents page, and you can message me on kickstarter if you have any questions or specific concerns.
- Who’s the writer/ colourist/ editor/ printer?
I’m both the writer and artist for Finding Home, and also work freelance on comic pencils, lineart, colouring and editing - please visit this page if you are interested in commissions or hiring me for work.
- The comic is edited by Claire Napier
- And will be printed by Comic Printing UK
Risks and challenges
I've run several kickstarters before all of which delivered rewards early, including one sending out more than a thousand books in my last project at the end of 2018. I'm experienced designing and printing books, pins and clothing, as well as posting out large volumes of orders with my Etsy. I think because of my experience the risks are small, but some contingency funds are built into the project, as well as extra time to allow for fluctuations in my health problems. Backers will be kept fully updated if any unexpected delays occur.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
