Hardworker is a folk-rock band out of Durham, North Carolina. This September, we're fundraising for our first full-length album, calling on friends, fans, and family to help us record, mix, master, package, and distribute 14 songs that tell stories of love, loss, justice, journey, and a little bit of whiskey. Probably too much whiskey, unless you're our moms. Mom, stop reading.
Over the past two years, Hardworker has evolved from a folksy songwriting duo to a full, rowdy, rock and roll band. Our first EP, The Awful Rowing, is a five-song collection written by Sus that showcases her lyrical dexterity, strong sense of dynamics, and the converging influences of novels, poems, and - most importantly - stories of the people around her. So, if you've ever crossed Sus, you'll probably find yourself on this next record.
With the fulltime additions of Michael Conner, Danny Nowell, and Alex Treyz, Hardworker has expanded its songwriting and instrumentation, toured the East Coast, made many new friends, and dreamed of cutting this record to see what possibilities are ahead.
Your pledges will help us continue to do what we love. They will help these songs and stories reach a wider audience. Join us!
Sus Long - guitars, vocals
Danny Nowell - guitars
Alex Treyz - vocals
Michael Conner - bass guitar, banjo
Risks and challenges
This is our first record! We were a very different band when we recorded our EP a year and a half ago. We have a lot of creative aspirations for the production of these 14 songs. The risk, of course, if that we don't know what we don't know and are doing our best to surround ourselves with faithful ears, friendly advice, and the very best studio-talent that Raleigh-Durham can offer. That said, we rely on our friends and family to nudge us in the right direction, give us positive feedback on the songs they love most, and keep us focused on our goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
