The aggressive rejection of any nude artwork (and specifically the female nipples) on social media has influenced creators to the extent that many artists now avoid working with nudity altogether. Posted uncensored, their work has led to blocked profiles, deleted images, and platform bans, creating an industry stigma around the subject that artists are now cautioned to avoid. #hardcover is taking a stand; publishing explicit artwork created by established professionals who believe in the freedom to explore our sexuality and humanity through art. With artists like Kim Jung Gi, Sara Pichelli, Bastien Lecouffe Deharme, Daniela Uhlig, Belén Ortega, Even Mehl Amundsen, Gerald Parel and many many more, this book promises to be one of a kind!
We opened the entry phase for the second book #hardcover2. You can submit your work under this link: https://upload.hardcoverart.com/
Even here on Kickstarter, promoting a book celebrating sexuality and the human form, we cannot show you the beautiful art contained within. We share the sentiment of sadness as we have no other option. The campaign would get rejected for anything but extremely cropped images, to a level where showing them defies the purpose of their creation. Check out the edited previews and let your imagination complete the picture, for now…
Most of the artists contributing to #hardcover haven't published any adult art until taking part in this project, which makes this volume an exclusive window into their intimate thoughts. We wanted the artists to be free to create any content without boundaries, so the book contains expressions of all sexualities - and we wouldn't want it any other way. The book will be bound as a black hardcover (duh!) and have 160 pages of content.
We have the work of over 120 artists in this project. The cover will feature a copper-foil logo, and we have a Kickstarter-exclusive tier that adds a sketchbook that is showing alternative work, processes and sketches, and also includes a slipcase.
This is a project that was built together with a lot of democratic decisions, pushing the limits of everyone's creativity, even outside the creation of the works themselves. As such, every artist will be compensated with a part of the profit. We want to be clear that by supporting this project you are also directly supporting the artists. As the publisher of artists like Kim Jung Gi, Karl Kopinski, Jesper Ejsing, Claire Wendling and the Superani Group, Éditions Caurette has a wealth of experience in fulfilling books like this and making sure they arrive safely at every backer's home.
In case you don't have a credit card to back the project, please reach out to us on email@example.com
During the campaign we will be having a contest! You can win a stack of artbooks! Worth over 1200€ and additionally some of them will have sketches by the artists.

Send us your entry until the campaign's end (over the easter celebration) on the 29th of April, to win this huge stack of books (OMG it is so big!). What we want you to create in any medium you prefer:
We purposefully left it pretty open to leave you a broad spectrum of possibilities. No specification for style, gender, medium or anything else. Give us your idea of a sexy (or not sexy) bunny, but make sure that it is SFW (Safe For Work) and that it can be posted everywhere online. The character(s) must be depicted interacting with our book in some way. It can be read, burned, sit on a stack of it, or just thrown in the corner, but it must be visible that it is #hardcover.
Post your piece on social media with the hashtag #hardcovercontest and make sure that it has the format A4 (210x297mm) in 300dpi, RGB and as a JPG in portrait format. Send your finished piece to firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries that arrive after the campaign's end cannot be considered for winning.
You don't have to be a backer to participate. So good luck! :)
We would have loved to show you images of the products, but using this platform comes with a price for all of us, which means that to actually use it, we aren't allowed to share the products with you. So they will be a surprise, and you have to trust us :)
Risks and challenges
All the content and layout is finished. The only thing that is missing is the actual printed products for which we are running this campaign.
The fulfilment will be handled by the busy bees at Éditions Caurette who have great experience in publishing and cheap shipment to buyers of high quality print products. They have been publishing works of artists like Kim Jung Gi, Jesper Ejsing, Karl Kopinski and many more, so we trust their competence and judgement.
Shipping of the products will be untracked, except for the highest tier which will have items unique to this campaign and will demand a higher fee to make sure nothing gets lost. In case of problems with the shipping of the other tiers, Éditions Caurette will be there to answer your questions.
We don't expect any delays but of course we will update you all if there are any unexpected changes or unforseen developments as we work fully transparently.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
