When Chris came to me last year and wanted to start a gaming company I thought he was crazy. No one pays for software anymore, the piracy rates are insane.
Who in their right mind would take their life savings and put it towards making a game? --- We did. Every penny we had. All to follow a simple childhood dream... to make a game that we could be proud of. Something different. Something fun.
Do you ever sit there and look at the Top 100 games on your smart phone and think that companies just aren't trying anymore? Shoveling the same thing back at you month after month, hundreds of clones of angry birds... thousands of "endless runners"...
We didn't just want to do the same thing everyone else was doing, we wanted a project that would challenge us and stand out on its own. A bigger company can't take a risk because their shareholders need profits.
We just wanted to make the game that *WE* wanted to play, not what some 70 year old shareholder thought was going to bring in the most cash.
We've come a long way from that first day we attempted to do water physics! Today we present to you a working prototype of a project that we have worked on in every spare waking moment. When you are sleeping in that bed of yours, we are busy crafting everything that makes H2FLOW awesome!
Up until this point we've been entirely self funded. We've been able to develop a prototype of a game which we think has great potential to be fantastic. With your help we can help realize the game's full potential! We've come a long way to where we are today, but there is still so much left to do.
If you don't donate to smaller indie developers (not just us, but anyone on KS) then this whole crowd funding thing fails, then developers like us are given the choice of obscurity or signing over all the rights to our game and 90% of any profits to some publisher.
They get to tell you how to make your game "better" and have full control of the project from that point on. They even get all the ip rights that comes with our game. Did you ever work on something and have someone swoop in to take all the credit? You know that feeling is a bad one. We didn't design this game for them, we made it for you!
We enjoy all kinds of games too, but just know that even that one dollar pledge that you makes all the difference in the world to indie developers like us.
We've been getting a lot of "I'd support you, but it looks done, you don't need the money." - unfortunately, this is far from the reality.
This is a playable prototype with a lot of work left. H2FLOW is roughly 60% complete. There is still so much to do from artwork to coding. Many long sleepless nights ahead.
We spent the past month polishing these four playable levels while the rest of the levels are only conceptualized. The code logic is 80% complete, without considering mobile support and the various resolution issues when it comes to supporting PC's and MAC's (and Linux!).
Getting the art for each level, play testing, and there is still a lot water physics logic development remains!
Provide your feedback from the PAUSE MENU ("P" or hit "ESC" in game) or on our FORUM!
H2FLOW is a fun and challenging water physics based action-strategy game for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. H2FLOW's gameplay combines the best elements of the "Worms" series by Team 17 and "Where's My Water" by Disney.
STORY: When the Evil Water Bottling Corporation cuts off the world's natural flow of water so they can sell their bottled water at exorbitant prices, it is time to gear up and get wet!
This Spring, get ready to dodge the dangers and save the world's water supplies in this fun water physics based game! Stay alive and collect all the water before time runs out!
H2FLOW brings something new to the market that we haven't seen before. Use bombs to reshape terrain, barriers to redirect water flow, and even build your own paths for water to follow!
Dodge the dangers! The Evil Water Bottling Corporation has set up deadly traps and guards whose job is to stop you at all costs from freeing the flow of the world's water again!
The world of H2FLOW has a lot of depth beyond just the surface. Hundreds of drawings, sketches, and other design documents fill in the vast details of the H2FLOW world.
"We've created an awesome story and world. I've got notebooks full of lore and back story to the world. I'd love to bring more titles to the market that explore the world!" - Sebastian
Everywhere! Well, everywhere we can afford to publish it! We are using the Unity 3D engine, and it has the capability to export to Web [play] / PC [download] / MAC [download] / iOS / Android but all of these add-on licenses cost $1500 each!
The plan is to release to game on PC & MAC first and if we raise enough money expand to iOS, and then Android. Android support means we can also support OUYA.
With your support we can bring H2FLOW to a wider audience!

Chris has been writing code for the past fifteen years, staring with BASIC, and honing his knowledge of every language under the sun! His skill spans multiple programming and scripting languages. Chris' recent work includes server-side development, client-side user experience, and heterogeneous system integration. He loves to challenge himself and isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty!
"I have always wanted to express myself through an entertainment medium. Through H2FLOW my dreams are becoming reality."
His gaming ambition goes back to the Commodore 64 when his father retro-fitted a black and white TV to work with the console. His first official foray into gaming was developing AI for a first person shooter based on the cult classic film "Phantasm".
Sebastian is a jack of all trades focusing on honing his art skills as well as getting back into programming after many years away from writing code. From early days of text adventure games in BASIC to reverse engineering assembly code, he's been through the fire!
"I've wanted to make fun games my whole life, those long days and nights stuck coding and drawing at the computer are finally coming together to make something great!"
Today he can be found working till the wee hours of the night bringing the world of H2FLOW to life!

Your Opinion Matters
We would love to include other stretch goals based on your feedback. We have many game play enhancing ideas, however, we are not quite sure which ones should make the cut. Please play the demo and submit your thoughts on our forum.
We face many challenges with H2FLOW. First of all it is only 60% complete. While the ALPHA release is playable and the first four levels are polished, there is still a lot of ART and CODING that has to be done.
We want to support the desktop releases better by having arrow key based movement, as well as game pad support. Currently the game is best played on a nice tablet. It does play well on PC / MAC / LINUX -- but these desktop platforms would benefit greatly from alternate input devices!
Majority of levels are laid out either on paper or in our heads, but they are far from completion. There is still a lot of art work, level and puzzle design, and testing remaining on each one!
Porting H2FLOW to iOS / Android is another challenge. Under-powered hardware, multiple operating system versions, and a mix of screen resolutions... these are all challenges we will have to overcome.
Your support of the Android stretch goal forces us to face these technical constraints. Offloading parts of the rendering process from the CPU to the GPU by the means of HLSL shaders will be our main focus during the Android development phase. Part of the stretch goal funding will be used to consult with a shader programmer to improve performance.
We spent the past month polishing the character sprite and animation before launching the KICKSTARTER. We did this because we wanted to be proud of our ALPHA release during the campaign.
We have funded this project with the remainer of our savings. Our bank accounts are at $0.00 and we are now on our own. If you would like to see this game released sooner, please consider pledging your support - every little bit helps.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We are extremely proud of H2FLOW thus far. When the Kickstarter crunch came we did what had to be done. We spent extra time focusing on a quality, playable ALPHA release. The game is only 60% complete and several months and thousands of dollars away from a BETA release.
It does not have a name yet. Do you want to name him?
"I call him Minio Palmer." -Chris
March 22nd of course. It so happens that World Water Day falls on the same day.
