New Hannah Thomas Album
I have so many new songs that I want to get out to you and I can't wait to record them with Don Dixon (R.E,M., Smithereens, etc).
Since I released my last album a little over a year ago I have been traveling the country and writing new songs and I am really itching to get them recorded and out to you! Those of you that have been coming to shows have heard the songs and have told me that they are your favorites.
The new album doesn't have a name yet, but we already know the songs. These are in no particular order.
Let it Rain - (God Help My Mama) I Turned Out Like My Dad - Ain't Got Nothing to Do With Love - Sunday Song - Lie to Me - Drinking Alone - Truth About an Outlaw
I have enlisted the super talented Don Dixon to both produce and play bass on the CD, and I can't wait to tell you more about the rest of the players.
Dixon is considered to be one of the key producers of what is called the jangle pop movement of the early 1980s. He spent thirteen years as a member of NC cult heroes Arrogance. Around 1983, Dixon attracted attention by co-producing with Mitch Easter, R.E.M.'s landmark debut LP Murmur. He then spent several years producing the work of varied artists including Chris Stamey (formerly of The dB's) and The Smithereens. Considered to be a highlight of this period was Tommy Keene's Run Now EP (co-produced with T Bone Burnett). This success led to Dixon recording his solo debut Most of the Girls Like to Dance (But Only Some of the Boys Like To), a further affirmation of his love of classic pop melodies and spiky, Nick Lowe-inspired wordplay.
I hope to get this recorded late Spring or Early summer so it can be in you hands this fall!
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk if finding a time to record between Don Dixon's schedule, my schedule, the studio schedule and the band's schedule. We are all committed to making the best record in the quickest time frame we can find.
I believe that this challenge will ultimately be easy to overcome because we are all committed to putting these songs out right away!
