What's in the book?
Starting in Kingston, Jamaica, the book follows Marley via England to the continent of Europe. In the Netherlands, Bob Marley & The Wailers performed live on stage five times between 1976 and 1980 in the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam (twice), and Geleen. BABYLON BY BUS details the visits Marley made to the Netherlands and brings the stories to life with the wonderful photos of rock photographer Gijsbert Hanekroot. Hanekroot captured Marley at his very best, both live on stage as well as off stage. BABYLON BY BUS is a unique photo-book, which celebrates and lets you relive the golden days of reggae and the reggae revolution which Marley brought to Europe.
In addition to a brief Marley biography, the visits and concerts in the Netherlands are described in detail, including controversy and back-stage stories. The book features interviews with people who were directly involved, such as concert organisers, record label managers, and other reggae pioneers. BABYLON BY BUS is a richly illustrated photo-book with photos by Gijsbert Hanekroot and several other photographers.
The book will be 168 pages, soft cover, 17×23 cm, featuring 50 different photos. We offer two versions of the book: one fully in Dutch, and one fully in English.
