New Add-Ons & Reward Levels, Dresden Files Crossover Event, Music Live Stream, and More!

Holy kitchen-sink update Wraith! There’s so much happening today, so strap in and check out all the news that’s fit to print! Let’s start with a quick funding update.

As of this writing, we have raised over $67,500. We’re halfway to the next Squish Goal™, but more importantly, we’ve crossed 2,000 backers! At our current rate, we need less than 400 more backers to be fully funded. So tell your friends and spread the word! See the bottom of this update for direct links to share on social media.

Aside from bringing in new people, another way to help the campaign succeed is to give all you wonderful supporters more cool things to back! That brings us to...

Curses, Foiled Again!

When it’s all said and done, there will be more than 100 Heroes and Hero Variants in Sentinels of the Multiverse, and Greater Than Games has created alternate versions of all of them with brand new artwork! But that’s not all, Greater Than Games has also created oversized Villain cards with great alternate art as well. And these will all be available on the tabletop as special collector's edition foil cards (thanks to the recent OblivAeon Kickstarter).

“But Handelabra,” you say, “what if I want to use these alternate hero and villain cards in the video game?”

“That sounds like a great idea!” says we.

Today we are announcing two new Add-Ons for Sentinels of the Multiverse: The Video Game! They are the Digital Foil Hero Collector’s Pack and the Digital Foil Villain Collector’s Pack.

Looking sharp, Ivan!

He’s definitely not wearing a shirt.

When you’re setting up a game, these collector’s packs will allow you to choose which hero cards or villain card you want to play with:

  • Classic Artwork (the original cards you know and love)
  • New Artwork (heroes from the 5th Anniversary Foil Hero Collection, and villains from the Complete Foil Oversized Villain Collection
  • Foil Artwork (foil versions of the new artwork, digital preview coming soon)

Each pack will be $5 on their respective stores, and they will be released simultaneously across all stores later this year. Just like a Season Pass, as we add new content to the game, these packs will get the new cards added to them for no additional charge.

In multiplayer, everyone will get to see which card you chose to play with, even if they don’t own the collector’s pack. If the Team Leader of a game owns the Collector’s Pack and chooses a foil Villain card, then everyone is playing against the foil Villain for that game!

You can see more samples of the new artwork here, here, and here

For Steam players: Click this link, or click the blue “Manage” button in the top right by your pledge amount. Then click the blue “Change your pledge” button to change the amount. You can add the Collector’s Packs by adding $5/each to your pledge ($10 for both). At the end of the campaign you’ll be able to tell us exactly how to allocate the extra amount. You can add extra Steam keys or other products this way, too! Learn more in Update #1.

For Google players on Android: We’re creating several new reward levels that will allow you to get the Collector’s Packs as part of your pledge. Check out the new SHINIEST ANDROID WE NEED, QUICKEST, SHINEST ANDROID WE NEED, and SUPER-SCIENTIFIC ANDROID COLLECTOR reward levels on the main page. Google Play promo codes are limited so we cannot offer them as an add-on.

For our super-duper collector backers: Both SUPER-SCIENTIFIC COLLECTOR levels now include the Digital Foil Hero Collector’s Pack and the Digital Foil Villain Collector’s Pack for no additional charge.

Dresden Files Crossover Live Stream!

Sharp-eyed Sentinels fans probably noticed that one of our beloved Sentinels made his way into the Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game as a stretch goal 2 weeks ago. On April 25th it was revealed that Ra would be jumping multiverses to make an appearance in the latest game from Evil Hat Productions.

We will discuss the genesis of the crossover, some details about the upcoming Dresden Files game, and cooperative gaming in general, while ALSO showing off a brand new Sentinels deck from the upcoming Mini-Pack 3: Omnitron IV. It definitely promises to be the…

@Elliot, There are going to be physical foils for every card (including the Oblivaeon ones), all the heroes, all the villains.

I had a question for you!

Does the Hero Pack contain new art for all hero characters AND their variants? (Not the new variants in Oblivaen, naturally!)

Also, what characters are covered in the Villains Pack? (Or would it be easier to list who aren't included?)

It would be great if we could take the text off the villain cards in the multiverse to make it easier to see all of this great new art. It'd be pretty great for the old cards too.

    4. edric h on May 3, 2016

Ah, cool. Thank you so much. I'd be glad to help reach that 80k goal, but perhaps if you guys do backerkit, I can do something then.

    5. Handelabra Games Creator on May 3, 2016

@edric h - Yes, they will be for sale at the same time on all platforms later this year.

    6. edric h on May 3, 2016

Cool. Also, will it possible to get the foil packs after the kickstarter? I'm pushing what I can spend already with my current pledge.

    7. Handelabra Games Creator on May 3, 2016

@edric - exactly. when you start a new game, you'll have the option to pick which art to use for that game.

    8. Handelabra Games Creator on May 3, 2016

@thomas - updating the character artwork would be a MUCH bigger job than just the foil cards. each character has at least 5 distinct pieces of artwork so I don't think those will be changing, but that said, we have not completely finalized how the foils will work. (we actually hope to have a prototype to show it a later update.)

and we definitely plan to have something special for the foils other than just "this is a different color" a la hearthstone. stay tuned!

    9. edric h on May 3, 2016

So if you have the foil packs, is it then option which art and such you use when you play? Like can I use the new foil art for Baron one match, but then use the normal one again later?

Dang it @Quintin beat me to the punch.

Brilliant update. I'd imagine with 2000+ backers we should see a significant bump in the pledge level as many of them, this guy included, jump for their wallets to add the new artwork.

    11. Quintin Lewis on May 3, 2016

Will the Season Pass 2 be able to hold all of these bonus cards if i use sleeves? I want to make sure my digital cards are protected properly

    12. Thomas Hack on May 3, 2016

Also, if you don't have plan yet -- my suggestions for foils would be to do what hearthstone does and add slight animations.

    13. Thomas Hack on May 3, 2016

Got it, thanks! SO is it just cars that will be adjusted, or also the in game art, which is more visible?

    14. Handelabra Games Creator on May 3, 2016

@thomas It's not one pack gets new art, the other gets foils. it's one is heroes and the other villains.
      - The Hero Pack contains the Hero cards with new art, and the Hero cards with new art and foil.
      - Likewise, the Villain pack contains the Villain oversize cards, and the Villain oversize cards with foil.

    15. Thomas Hack on May 3, 2016

So the Foil and New artwork will be identical? Why are they seperate packs? Is there any difference in what is in each>

Also, will there be different art for the "non-card" art, like the pictures of villains and heroes in game?

Is there no way for mobile non-android users to add these packs to their pledge?

    17. Handelabra Games Creator on May 3, 2016

Yes! Each pack will be $5 on their respective stores, and they will be released simultaneously across all stores later this year.

You mention steps for Steam and Android users, to increase their pledges for the new Collectors Packs. Will these packs be released for iOS, too?
