Something's Got Ahold of My Heart is the latest, biggest, and most demading show Hand2Mouth has ever attempted.
In August 2011 Hand2Mouth decided to make a show about love. We knew there would be music. We knew there would be dancing. We knew there would be stories to tell. And this fall, we've been given an incredible opportunity to finish this work at EMPAC - the most technologically advanced theater space the USA.
For two weeks - November 26 through December 9 - Hand2Mouth will make this show come to life.

For the last 12 years Hand2Mouth has been making original performance from our home in Portland, OR. The opportunity to travel across the country to complete this show is a gift.
EMPAC is giving Hand2Mouth residency and $5,000. We need your help to raise $5,000 more. Your support will help us cover the cost of plane and bus tickets for 10 people, food for two weeks, set materials, and artist fees.
We are gathering 10 Artists (from PORTLAND + NEW ORLEANS + NYC) for two weeks of work.

Hand2Mouth has been recognized for our sophisticated use of lighting and sound design/programming, winning awards locally for both. For Something's Got Ahold of My Heart, we are working with a dream team of designers to push our signature style to a new level, where the ambition of our design ideas can finally be matched with technical resources to realize them. EMPAC will allow us to craft a true unification of design and performance
What is EMPAC?

Housed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY the Experiemental Media and Performing Arts Center is a 220,000 square-foot building dedicated to the merge of creativity and technology in performing arts. EMPAC holds four theaters (in addition to studios and other working spaces) and gives artists the time, support, and technical know-how to make their visions come to life.

Risks and challenges
Making new performance from scratch is hard work. Before seeing a single scene from Something's Got Ahold of My Heart, EMPAC said YES, WE BELIEVE IN YOUR WORK.
Hand2Mouth has been working on this project for over a year. The work is good, and the dedicated time to integrate technical elements will make it excellent. We are honored to show Something's Got Ahold of My Heart at La MaMa E.T.C. and in Portland in January 2013 . Without the time, space, and technical support of our residency at EMPAC we will not be ready for these openings.
EMPAC is providing us space, lights, sound equipment, and technical help. We need all our artists working together in the same room. With YOUR SUPPORT, we can make this happen. With YOUR SUPPORT, we will bring this show to life. Please make a contribution today.
