Float Shelf Update

Yes, things are taking longer than I projected... however, we're making good progress and I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Great News. Production of large Float Shelves is done and the factory says it needs just a few more days to finish all the small Float Shelves. Below is a photo of completed Float Shelves being readied for shipment and a photo of an individual Float Shelf in its box.

                                                                    .

Shipping Decision. I‘ve decided to ship completed Float Shelves from the factory in China to our offices in California despite the fact that this will cost more in time and money. The upside of this decision is that we'll have an opportunity to do one last quality inspection ourselves, plus we'll be able to take full control of the final mailing. Having already done two successful Kickstarter campaigns, I know shipping issues always arise and that it's much better to solve these issues in-house. This is why I don't want to outsource the final shipping to an overseas mailing service.

Ocean vs. Air. We’re checking to see how much it will cost to ship the finished shelves to California. We’re hoping to find an air cargo rate close enough to the cost of ocean freight that we can afford to ship the shelves by air and thus cut several weeks off the delivery time. We’re contacting a host of airfreight companies to see if we can find one with surplus capacity that we can get at a steep discount. If we can’t find a good airfreight rate then the shelves will sail to California by ship, a transit that will take a few weeks.

Important. We’ll email a shipping survey just a few days before mailing Float Shelves in order to get your current shipping address. In addition, to make sure you get the right size Float Shelf, as part of the shipping survey we will ask for your iMac’s model info which can be found by selecting About This iMac in the drop down menu under the Apple icon () at the top left of your iMac’s screen. As I stated in my last update, if you have an older, thick-edged iMac or an Apple display, then you’ll be getting a refund.

Again, I very much appreciate your patience about delivering Float Shelves a bit late and your understanding about why a few of you will be getting refunds.
