Using art, bamboo, recycled paper and empowerment, we intend to make the rather bland luxury underwear market interesting.
LEGENDS, LADIES and lovers of TURQUOISE and SNOW SPORTS - please see our updates!
ALL MENS UNDERWEAR WILL BE SHIPPED IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!
DaDa Underwear is a boutique underwear brand finally making comfortable underwear that is interesting in every way:
- Luxury men's underwear made from bamboo and organic cotton.
- Presented in beautiful 100% recycled ‘tea’ paper boxes.
- Three unique styles to suit every man's taste and comfort.
- Patterns that are ‘simple and tidy’ for a more refined style.
- Manufactured ethically in Sri Lanka.
- Engaging photography through collaboration with Dave Watts- a creative award winning London photographer.
A few years ago, I started to get frustrated with the men's luxury underwear market and how it is dominated by big name designers and retired sport stars that aren't doing anything new.
Churning out the same designs with bright and brash colours and some guys name on the waistband. Calvin, Tommy, Ralph, Bjorn, Beckham- get your name off my underwear!
It's time to make underwear interesting! By fusing style, design, art and photography with surfing, cycling and the great outdoors. Please do watch the video for full details.
These are the three styles crafted to suit each man- I have attached three from each and will add more styles as the campaign progresses so look out:
RETRO - Looser fitting 'boxer' short based on a 'retro' running short.
SHORTY - Shorter 'trunk' style with low-rise waistband and 'comfy pouch'.
TRUNK - Classic 'trunk' style with longer legs to limit 'chaffage'.
LONG JOHN - Our snug long john is available in full and 3/4 length for the duration of the Kickstarter campaign only.
LEGEND VEST - Our legend vest is available for the duration of our Kickstarter campaign only.
We have done the hard part, but fabric suppliers require 1000 yards in each colour which means we need to take enough orders to pay for the fabric. We have taken a gamble and ordered a set number of pieces in anticipation of people ordering for Christmas presents- please email immediately with your preferred style. When they are gone we will write it here.
Pledge what you wish and we will be forever grateful to finally get this baby off the ground!
Please email me personally if you would like to pledge an amount, but would like a slightly different assortment- we can sort it out for sure.
All photographs are professionally printed and ready to hang. After all photographs and postcard books are printed- no more will ever be printed. Truly limited edition - get a piece of early supportive DaDa history!
I will write a personal message of your choice on each photograph with the run number.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
I decided to take quite a big gamble and ordered the fabric in the hope that I could raise the funds to pay for it within the 90 day credit period. This is the biggest risk, but fortunately does not affect any funders (if goal is hit, fabric is paid for). It has taken me so long to get this far and I'm a firm believer that if you set a goal and put everything towards it, you can make it happen.
Provided we hit our goal, we have already provisionally booked in capacity with our manufacturer to ensure we can meet demand. We have ordered a set number of pieces in advance so that those purchasing them as Christmas presents can have them by Christmas. If we go over this number, then we will have the rest by January which I believe is a pretty quick turnaround.
We have partnered with an incredibly experienced manufacturer who deal with orders hundreds times ours on a weekly basis. As part of this agreement, we have a merchandiser in Sri Lanka whose job is to oversee and ensure production goes to plan.
When the first order arrives, the problem will be ensuring everyone gets what they ordered. I will have at least a month to plan out the orders to ensure all orders go out in good time and that all photographs are ordered with enough time that they will go out with underwear orders. I have created a spreadsheet to track orders and ensure everyone receives what they order.
