Midwinter Update

Hi there, everyone. Hopefully you all are muddling through the Winter (or Summer for those in the Southern hemisphere).

So, writing continues as Ken piles through all the collaborations, and does his research for location essays. Currently he predicts he'll be done with the supplementary essays for the expanded Tour de Lovecraft: The Tales first, with The Destinations following after that. He and I have talked about getting first draft versions of the completed books out to you all as soon as they are text complete, so that's the current plan.

On the art front, we're making progress as well. Here's a rundown on the main components.

Mark Richardson has completed the Lovecraft Country road map, as well as a second more "abstract" map that'll become the endsheets for the expanded Tales. We're still tweaking that one a little, but we'll show it off when it's done.

Toren Atkinson has been working on the frontispiece for the books, and we're pretty happy with his initial rough he's worked up. Check it out:

Domenico Nezitti (who's settled the issues delaying his work) has made fantastic progress with the headers for the location headers. Here are a couple of selections from those:

After he's  finished these essay headers, he'll move on to the luggage labels. However, we don't need those to get the books to print, so they're a bit of a lower priority,

So that's where we stand right now. As we get more of the final art in, we'll post it here, and the progress spreadsheet should be updated by the end of this week. As always, we appreciate your patience. The wait WILL be worth it.

How is the writing going? Because the only 2019 updates I can see on the progress spreadsheet are for the art. This project is really dragging on, so I'd like to be reassured that the writing is moving forward. Thanks.

The shorts, the shirt, the camera, and the hat are almost identical to Paul Kidby's depiction of Twoflower, the Discs' first tourist.

I was also getting a Hunter S. Thompson vibe.

Loving what most certainly must be a Pratchett reference in the "Lovecraft on vacation" piece.
