TO OUR KICKSTARTER PLEDGER'S
Portraits of HALF PINTS MODA...
It has been said that in every one of us there still exists a child with dreams...some of us reach them...and some of us do nothing to realize them...we just keep hoping.
As with all dreams, the story of HALF PINTS (Half Pints Moda the new company name) began with the inspiration and vision of our founder and creator Rosemary De Los Angeles.
Our founder realized her dream 20 years ago creating a garden of inspired European designs. The dream came to full life and bloomed in colorful palettes of exquisite fabrics, with an unforgettable beauty of its detail from front to back, portraying a "timeless look."
We have joined Kickstarter to not only present our HALF PINTS MODA project and plant the seed to bring it to life, but to partake in the Kickstarter community. It is not only about funding our goal, but about the feedback and the love that resonates from every project we have read on this site, that inspired us.
We invite you to read our love story of HALF PINTS, and you will see what we accomplished, how we influenced high-end fashion in the children's wear apparel industry, where we expanded our business, and who loved and bought our product. It was in knowing our market and our customer that provided the success that you are about to discover.
HALF PINTS MODA brings back to high-end children’s wear fashion, the "timeless" signature look that captures the beauty of childhood innocence through our designs with luxurious fabrics, exquisite detail and the classic styling of our collections.
With every pledge that is made towards funding our project, it moves us closer to realizing our vision, which is to revolutionize the fashion of children’s wear today with garments that have the luxury, beauty, that accentuates the innocence of a child.
With this breakthrough, HALF PINTS MODA can re-launch and debut our 2012-2013 Holiday-Early Spring collection at the October 2012 ENK International Children's Club New York Show.
Your funding will help cover the cost of purchasing fabric, create our sample lines, produce our "American Made" product, secure space at the show, travel costs, advertising, and photo shoots. The pledges that you make of any amount to fund our project will help us to realize our dream.
It was at the ENK Children's Club New York Show where the HALF PINTS story of phenomenal success began, and it is our vision and goal to do it all over again, in the one city in the world where dreams are made of, New York.
The initial launch of HALF PINTS took place in the mid eighties. An idea that started with a vision, a vision to fill the void of the innocence of style that's been lost in children's wear fashion. With each design, HALF PINTS was not only creating a fashion statement, but creating memories and dreams for what all little girls want, to be a "princess" not only on a special occasion or a holiday, but every day.
HALF PINTS made its "debut" displaying its fall collection at the International Kids Fashion Trade Show in NYC, which is one of the strongest selling seasons in the Children's Wear Industry.
The original HALF PINTS line encompassed only 16 pieces, in a small booth (5x10) so far in the back of the exhibition hall that we thought no one would ever find us. Just as the name suggest we were just a small HALF PINTS bunch, three of us selling and representing our small California based line in our small booth. However, something magical happened, the three days at the show proofed to be amazing, we were selling...and selling...buyers were buying. HALF PINTS was creating what we would get to know as "timeless memories."
This small California based line had not only brought to the East Coast a "timeless" high fashion design, but a new "fresh" "cutting edge" collection, which would eventually become a high-end fashion icon Nationwide.
At our fall season debut, HALF PINTS sold close to 900 units at an average price point of $74 dollars. Every single piece was produced and delivered, with the quality and design perfection that HALF PINTS promised and presented to our buyers.
The integrity we have for producing a quality product, was also carried over into the delivery, where packaging became another way for HALF PINTS to display our commitment to excellence for our product and our customer. White boxes not kraft color boxes were used for packaging, hung on beautiful satin hangers individually bagged, wrapped in crisp pink tissue, and finished with the label of our beautiful HALF PINTS logo, the signature double pink bow.
With the excitement HALF PINTS created at our first show, momentum was on our side and this was just the beginning of a phenomenal uphill success.
HALF PINTS "market positioning" went from being a small California base line to garnishing "National Representation" in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
HALF PINTS was also selected by a international fabric house, who for over a century has been renowned as one of the most prestigious fabric houses in the world, to be their "American Children's Wear Representative" for their fabric line. While in partnership with the fabric supplier, we had the opportunity to expose our exquisite product in a full-page ad insert that appeared in the 1988 Vogue Fall Fashion issue, thus creating "National Branding" for HALF PINTS.
HALF PINTS also appeared on the USA Today Show in 1988 as one of the lead exhibitors at the International Kids Trade Show.
HALF PINTS garnished appeal and prominent space with the most prestigious retail giants, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorfs, Saks Fifth Avenue, I. Magnins Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Macys. HALF PINTS did not knock on their doors...they knocked on ours...what a privilege and honor...and in our first year!
On our first year anniversary HALF PINTS positioned its Brand as an icon and a leader in the high-end fashion children's wear Industry. We went from a small booth in the back of the exhibition hall to a location with prominent front space, exhibiting over 36 pieces and creating nine lines. Coming down the escalator of the Jacob Javits Exhibition Center, you could see HALF PINTS staged with beautiful soft hues and rich bright color palettes, which inspired an unforgettable timeless memory.
While at the show, our nation experienced one of the biggest financial crashes in history. On "Black Monday," as the day is remembered by our nation during this major crisis, HALF PINTS placed orders of over $450,000 thousand dollars in sales, closing our three days at the show with sales ending in a phenomenal financial success, a total of $1.2 million dollars. When calculating our year to date sales after the show, it was to our unexpected surprise to see that we had surpassed our sales goal. Our growth rate was over 2000% in the span of one year!
So you will ask, why is HALF PINTS not in business today? Here is why...not only were we under-capitalized for our phenomenal growth, but we also had non-delivery of raw goods from a major fabric supplier. This not only affected production of our product but it jeopardized our integrity of delivering our commitment to our customer. If you have ever been in the apparel industry, the pace is fast and competition is plenty, so a company's integrity is key.
Founder Rosemary De Los Angeles has spent the past two years rediscovering the forces that are driving the Children's Wear business today, and where it is heading towards the year 2015. The findings have shown that the Children's Wear Industry is the most lucrative segment in the global apparel industry. Currently the "global" Children's Wear Industry's value is $163 billion and by 2015, forecast is that it will reach a value of $186 billion, and HALF PINTS MODA wants to be a part of that lucrative growth.www.bizreportshop.comwww.marketresearch.com
Today with a smarter and wiser approach, a phenomenal history of sales success, (of which you have just read) HALF PINTS MODA is ready to come back and show the world once more that the "magic" that once captured the attention of so many, will be recaptured again as we re-launch our founders dream...to bring joy, beauty, and a magical time to our very own customer...our girls...every child in this world deserves to dream...let it be with HALF PINTS MODA.
