About this project
A girl and a boy find themselves isolated within identical featureless rooms. Alone and still- until the sobbing started. "Who's there?" The girl asks, now acutely aware of another presence. The boy looks up through his tears when he hears her voice, "What?"
Shapes in the dark, mechanical screeching, and doors that seem to appear from nothing. There is nothing right about the place they're stuck in, and yet, it's sorely familiar to both. But, why?
We pledge to give 5% of the profits back to the Kickstarter community. More information on Kicking it Forward
PRISON is a short film being created by the small production team HACS+. We're amateur film makers with an abundance of creativity and a big vision. We're a capable team but sorely lacking in materials. This Kickstarter is intended to fund this film but also jump-start HACS+ as a production company.
We are currently in the pre-production phase of this film, creating concept art and storyboarding. If the little blurb above isn't enough, it's a film about a boy and a girl "appearing" in two identical rooms where they appear to be alone, but can hear each other as if they are sitting next to each other. Throughout the film they discover how they can interact with the other person and find clues to why and how they are trapped in their prisons. It's intended to be a very atmospheric thriller with an emphasis on the mystery and the characters.
We intend to use your funds primarily to purchase equipment for the film, which will equate to about $3500. The rest will be used for props, lodging, travel, and small equipment like batteries and light bulbs, which accounts for the additional $500.
Of course, throughout the whole filming process we will be entirely transparent and open to all the funds we use as well as sharing the whole event with the backers through updates. We intend to share the whole process: storyboards, concept art, film tests, behind the scenes footage, bloopers, and anything else we can possibly think of.
If you contribute, we will do all we possibly can to make the experience as enlightening and enjoyable as possible. Your funding makes it possible to create this film, which we are impossibly grateful for, so we intend on returning the favor.
HACS+ is Nicole Post, Philip Stetson, Amanda DeZee, and Katie Williamson. We're a bunch of crazy 20-ish-year-olds with a dream to be a true production company. We have have very high expectations for ourselves and hope to make a career of making films and other creative ventures. We've all known each other from High School and are very familiar with our each other work and function, for better or worse.
We're hoping that PRISON can get our feet on the ground and give us the means to make even more films in the future that we will, of course, share with all our backers.
PRISON came from the desire for us to do a more serious film. We've done some not-so-serious films in the past of varying quality, all of which we've learned from. We also have a horror series on youtube, but people aren't supposed to know that we made it so we can't really share it here.
PRISON is primarily the brainchild of Philip Stetson, but he got a lot of help and feedback from the rest of the crew as well.
We have a few other. One of which is a horror series that is a bit of an ARG that we can't share quite yet. The other ones are comedy films that we primarily made for festivals. You can see them on our youtube here:
