Thank you!!!Hello and thank you for checking out my project! Gypsy Trails Gallery is an art caravan that me and my dog, Marilyn, will tour throughout the country. We will showcase my art as well as local artists from each city we visit. The aim is to create a community of mutual inspiration, support and growth. A place where people can teach, learn and grow as artists. As well as, share, admire and discuss new ideas and ways of expression. I will encourage the endless possibilities of creation, by hosting a variety of classes and discussions, entertaining and instructional podcasts, and art parties. These will be conducted by myself and participating artists.
Most importantly, the principle purpose of Gypsy Trails is to provide a unique and effective gallery for artists to exhibit, sell their art and have the opportunity to leave a lasting impression. Each artist that exhibits with Gypsy Trails will become a Trail Blazer and have a page on the website dedicated to their craft, their mission, their links and the media from their show with us.
In addition, the audience that we reach will continue to grow because everything will be interactive through the internet. This will include live streaming of the activities and gallery nights, as well as me and Marilyn's personal journey. I am certain we will have many road bumps, as blazing a new trail always does, but hopefully, these will be more comical than anything else.
The preparation and business side of Gypsy Trails has been a full-time gig for about 2 years and the production varies. Most of that time has been spent researching via the internet and the public library figuring out the budget and writing the business plan. I plan to continue Gypsy Trails into future years and have plans to meet with potential sponsors during this first year. It is also how I hope to raise the remaining $25,000.
The first Gypsy Trails show was titled, “Faux Show.” I gave it this title because it was hosted out of a 24′ moving truck to demonstrate what the trailer will look like. I felt the best way to explain to people that I am serious about making this happen, is to make it happen.
This video shows the transformation from truck to gallery:
The show was a huge success and everything turned out as hoped. A lot of people were interested in the gallery idea and in following its journey.
Here is the video of the first show:
With the success of the first show, and the invitation to return, we recently hosted a second show, “Soul Out” on May 12, 2012. Once again, I transformed a rented moving truck into a gallery. I will continue to do it this way until I can afford to own a 5th wheel trailer, which will become the permanent gallery. Owning the trailer will give me the freedom to create environments that correlate with the participating artists' themes. Gallery nights will be multifaceted experiences, since we encourage all forms of art. This includes paintings, photography, sculpture, music, dance, spoken word, theatre, and more. I want to bring them together to create unforgettable atmospheres of sensations.
Realistically, we need to raise $50,000 to take off in full force. This amount will cover the first year’s leases for the truck and trailer, liability and auto insurance, fuel and basic business and personal living expenses while on the road. In order to get started, I am only asking for about half of this amount on Kickstarter. The reason for this is because I am determined to accomplish my goals and know I will figure out a way to keep the wheels in motion after you help them get rolling. I really cannot thank you enough for your time and support! We are looking forward to taking this journey with you!! See you on the road!
