An art caravan that will tour the country & the internet to inspire, encourage, teach & exhibit art from each city we visit.
**Note: This is the relaunch of Gypsy Trails Gallery. We did really well the first time around; even included as a Staff Pick in the Art Category by Kickstarter. However, we didn't reach our full goal, therefore, no funds were exchanged and no rewards fulfilled. So what I plan to do is start off with a smaller tour. The new goal is for $10,000 and this will be used to purchase the trailer and host a 3 month tour throughout California. If we go over the goal, the additional money raised will go toward extending the tour. My ultimate goal is to tour the U.S. Below you can read about the project as it was released the first time. Thank you! Hope to see you at a future show soon!

Thank you again for your continued support! To any new backers, thank you and welcome to the journey!!

Hello and thank you for checking out my project! Gypsy Trails Gallery is an art caravan that me and my dog, Marilyn, will tour throughout the country. We will showcase my art as well as local artists from each city we visit. The aim is to create a community of mutual inspiration, support and growth. A place where people can teach, learn and grow as artists. As well as, share, admire and discuss new ideas and ways of expression. I will encourage the endless possibilities of creation, by hosting a variety of classes and discussions, entertaining and instructional podcasts, and art parties. These will be conducted by myself and participating artists.
In addition, the audience that we reach will continue to grow because everything will be interactive through the internet. This will include live streaming of the activities and gallery nights, as well as me and Marilyn's personal journey. I am certain we will have many road bumps, as blazing a new trail always does, but hopefully, these will be more comical than anything else.
Most importantly, the principle purpose of Gypsy Trails is to provide a unique and effective gallery for artists to exhibit, sell their art and have the opportunity to leave a lasting impression. Each artist that exhibits with Gypsy Trails will become a Trail Blazer and have a page on the website dedicated to their craft, their mission, their links and the media from their show with us.
The preparation and business side of Gypsy Trails has been a full-time gig for about 2 years and the production varies. Most of that time has been spent researching via the internet and the public library figuring out the budget and writing the business plan. I plan to continue Gypsy Trails into future years and have plans to meet with potential sponsors during this first year. It is also how I hope to raise the remaining $25,000.
The first Gypsy Trails show was titled, “Faux Show.” I gave it this title because it was hosted out of a 24′ moving truck to demonstrate what the trailer will look like. I felt the best way to explain to people that I am serious about making this happen, is to make it happen. This video shows the transformation from truck to gallery:
The show was a huge success and everything turned out as hoped. A lot of people were interested in the gallery idea and in following its journey. Here is the video of the first show:
With the success of the first show, and the invitation to return, we recently hosted a second show, “Soul Out” on May 12, 2012.
Once again, I transformed a rented moving truck into a gallery. I will continue to do it this way until I can afford to own a 5th wheel trailer, which will become the permanent gallery.
Owning a trailer will give me the freedom to create environments that correlate with the participating artists' themes. Gallery nights will be multifaceted experiences, since we encourage all forms of art. This includes paintings, photography, sculpture, music, dance, spoken word, theatre, and more. I want to bring them together to create unforgettable atmospheres of sensations.
Realistically, we need to raise $50,000 to take off in full force. This amount will cover the first year’s leases for the truck and trailer, liability and auto insurance, fuel and basic business and personal living expenses while on the road.
I've lowered our goal amount so that we may raise enough to at least get a trailer and get started. Any extra money raised will go toward a longer tour. The reason for this is because I am determined to accomplish my goals and know I will figure out a way to keep the wheels in motion after you help them get rolling. I really cannot thank you enough for your time and support! We are looking forward to taking this journey with you!! See you on the road!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
While blazing this new trail, we will of course encounter some road-bumps and maybe some blocks. Most of which, I predict will occur while on the road. Aside from the challenges of hauling a 30ft trailer into areas not familiar to me, one issue I'm currently encountering is finding locations that will accommodate us. I will work hard to host shows that, once accepted will be invited back. We have already started this process and have been invited to participate in future Pomona Art Walks. Another obstacle, will be obtaining an audience and finding artists in new cities. I am currently working hard to build interest and a fan base through social media and am creating an interactive website. Networking is extremely important for our success and is a main priority. One that I cherish. Because as I've said before, I can't do this without you! Thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Cheers ~Hayley
