The Starting Point:
Hi, I’m Chelle, I’m a watercolor artist. I’ve created a series of beautiful, haunting watercolor paintings of abandoned places that I call “Roam the Blue Ghost” and I need your help to turn them into a gorgeous printed book and a series of high quality prints.
This Kickstarter project aims to get funding for the book to be printed, the art prints made and matted including the limited boxed editions, the post cards, the gallery hire for the exhibition, and any stretch goals that might come about if we go over the funding goal. Let’s hope we can achieve this goal! :)
I have been exploring abandoned places for the last decade and putting these explorations through my art and developing their stories. Some of the artworks come as a sub-series of one particular place or situation that sets the visual story. I have been working on this project for the last 4 months to produce a big body of pen and watercolour artworks of huge size (A2 – A1 sized Watercolour paper) on this theme. Why blue ghost? The name implies the ghosts that are still wandering around places in this world, not yet passed over, still lost and looking for their loved ones or their favourite thing/place.
The Project at current: I am in the midst of the project at this stage, making more ghost artworks for the upcoming solo art exhibition titled “Roam the Blue Ghost”, in Melbourne, Australia and to put together the art book.
The book is a 6 x 9 inch art book
* 50 pages of tantalising artworks, my pen and watercolour illustrations
* photos of myself in production creating the artworks
* photos of artworks in progress stages throughout the book
* and delicious short stories of each artwork
The book will come in three different
formats: Soft Cover, Hard Cover (Limited number, Kickstarter Exclusive) and the Digital E-book (this will be sent in epub / mobi format directly to your e-reader / ipad / phone)
The cover of the soft cover book will be printed on quality matt laminate, a lovely satin feel and the pages will be filled with glorious thick pages of quality paper printed in full colour.
In this amazing Kickstarter project will be individual limited edition A4 size prints of the artworks, printed on top quality paper, each signed and numbered.
The boxed edition of Six 14x11 inch matt mounted prints with foam core backing and packed individually in plastic, and comes in a luxury black presentation box and is a Kickstarter Exclusive.
You will have the choice of which art images you want and you will be able to select these when I send out surveys via the Backer’s Kit which is a better option for choosing what you want easily and if you wanted more things to add on later, you would have that choice as well! :) Also as the next few months go on, I will be producing more Roam the Blue Ghost artworks for the exhibition and after the exhibition, and adding them to updates on this Kickstarter page for you to view and make decisions for which prints you would like.
(coming up soon!)
A bit about me, the artist:
I have been practicing my visual arts for 15 years, and working with watercolour for the last 5 years since I graduated with a BA of Visual Arts. I enjoy mixing mediums with watercolour to come up with these dark and fun artworks, and some colourful and bright works too! I have had twelve exhibitions to date and I’m almost known around parts of the world for the pen and watercolour artworks I do, be it an old place, an old antique item, a dog or animal, or the fabulous classic volky beetle and kombi bus! Recently I was published in a book alongside other artists in a book called Amazing Australian Artists, showcasing two page spreads of each artist. Later I will be doing another kickstarter on my volky adventures and another on amazing dogs and their owners having fun! So be on the look out for these! ;)
You can view more of my artworks at www.chelledestefano.com
The exhibition will be opened on 20th March at 6 pm at House Of Bricks Gallery, in 40 Budd St, Collingwood, Victoria, Australia. Everyone is more than welcome to attend this exhibition, it's free of charge. The exhibition will go until 5th April and the gallery is open Monday to Sunday 9 am to 5 pm.
Risks and challenges
The only risks I face would be if this project was not funded, or if it is funded, the time could be stretched out during production of the artworks, or the books, prints and other printed items could be delayed by the printers quality control - as the companies I deal with are amazing and fussy about quality which is the best thing ;) or postal systems being slow, as we know how postal systems can be at times!
I have put December 2015 as a deadline to allow for time to create the big body of artworks, so you get more variety ;) and to fill the pages of the book with exciting stories and tantalising artworks to look at!
Either way, I will make sure everyone of you get the best of quality in all your rewards. I will make sure I never compromise quality over a rushed job anywhere in this project. I love my supporters :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
