Crowdfunding the Volksy Art Book:
Hi, I’m Chelle, an Australian watercolor artist that has exhibited my Volksy collection in Paris, London, Bath, New York and Italy and soon Berlin and Rome in October as well as on my home base in Adelaide and Melbourne, Australia. I’ve created a series of fun and colourful illustrations of volksy bugs and kombies having fun doing things such as playing pool, cards, eating cakes, getting lost in strange places and having picnics and I need your help to turn them into a gorgeous printed book and a series of high quality prints and you get to own a Volksy Art piece by Chelle, as a Limited Edition print, poster or in a book!
This Kickstarter project aims to get funding for:
* the first print run of Volksy Adventures Art book to be printed,
* the art prints printed,
*the glossy posters,
* the post cards,
* the exhibition fees for Taxi Bug's little art show in Berlin,
* and any stretch goals that might come about if we go over the funding goal.
There is a little exciting surprise coming for the stretch goals (IF we can reach them) that I think many of you will LOVE and LAUGH about.... ;)
Let’s hope we can achieve this goal! :)
Below see a small selection of my Volksy artworks (just a few to name):
UPDATE: One of my latest artworks in sketch mode, in progress, not finished yet but gives you an idea of the development of the book and to be excited!
The Book: The book is a 8 x 10 inch art book * 44 - 50 pages of tantalising artworks, my pen and watercolour illustrations, * and gorgeous short stories of each artwork with addiyional sketches of the stories, * photos of myself in production creating the artworks, * photos of artworks in progress stages throughout the book. The book will come in two different formats: Soft Cover and the Digital E-book (this will be sent in epub / mobi format directly to your e-reader / ipad / phone) The cover of the soft cover book will be printed on quality matt laminate, a lovely satin feel and the pages will be filled with glorious thick pages of quality paper printed in full colour.
Prints: In this amazing Kickstarter project will be individual limited edition A4 size prints of the artworks, printed on top quality cotton paper, each signed and numbered.
Posters: You will have the opportunity to own a large beautiful top quality glossy poster of any one of the Volksy artworks of your choice! The posters are sized 59 x 40 cm.
A bit about me, the artist: I have been practicing my visual arts for 20 years, and working with watercolour for the last 8 years since I graduated with a BA of Visual Arts. I enjoy mixing mediums with watercolour to come up with these fun, colourful and bright art works! I have had twenty exhibitions to date and I’m almost known around parts of the world for the pen and watercolour artworks I do, be it an old place, an old antique item, a dog or animal, or the fabulous classic volksy beetle and kombi bus! The volksy artworks have gained popularity since I started illustrating them in 2010 and many sold quickly during exhibitions.

The Exhibition: The exhibition will be opened on 15th October in Berlin in an open studio over a few days during the Berlin Arts Festival at the Brotfabrik Cultural Arts Centre, Berlin Germany. Everyone is more than welcome to attend this exhibition, it's free of charge. The exhibition will go until 19th October and you can meet me and my co-collaborator artist Charlotte during our open studio and at the same time view the art exhibition and buy an original artwork.
I'm offering a pledge for a doona/duvet cover with two cushions featuring ANY of the volksy artworks of your choices which will be an exciting piece to own. The doonas are a beautiful soft almost velvet feel, high quality printed material and has a zipper at the entry. The cushions are top grade quality thick material.
Risks and challenges
The risks are the time being stretched over the estimated time but this will be because I won't compromise quality of the book or prints over rushing. The other risk is of course not meeting the funding goal which in that case you won't have any money taken out at the end of the campaign so it is an all or nothing type of funding model. But we want the project funded don't we? ;) so that we can get the awesome books and prints to you and you can enjoy some bug time :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
