Thank you for visiting the Guthries Independent Theater page!! All of us here at Guthries are very excited about the opportunity to expand our current restaurant/venue model to include an on-site theater space. We have been exceptionally fortunate over the last seven years to turn our ambitions and passions into a business that continues to grow. So many decisions went into creating Guthries and by far the most important was our decision to commit to support and enhance our local community in as many ways as possible. We buy as many local products from as many local vendors as possible. We host local and regional musicians every Friday night. We showcase a rotation of local artists on our dining room walls every month. Over the years we have experimented with various community events in an effort to connect community members to one other in meaningful ways. It has been a wonderful journey and we are now ready to embark on another adventure. Inside our current location, adjoining Guthries, is an amazing unused theater space.
The theater space expands Guthries ability to share with and connect community members to creative, informative, avant-garde, thought-provoking independent films. It also allows us the ability to enhance the experience of several events we currently host such as Maine Microcinema and The Corner. Guthries kitchen will serve our full menu including beer, wine, espresso and smoothies delivered to the theater before each film and during other community events.
We feel a very exciting opportunity exists to host a wide array of independent films, enhance community events currently held at Guthries, expand our dining opportunities and potentially add new community events to our repertoire. With your support we can create a space in which we can all be continually inspired!!

Risks and challenges
To maximize the theater experience, we must invest in proper audio and visual equipment along with adequate seating/dining furniture. This is the heart of the campaign. A successfully funded campaign will enable us to accelerate the time in which we would be able to offer an epic theater experience from several years to several months. We are blessed to be working with some of the area's finest filmmakers, film festival coordinators, and audio/visual technicians. Their wealth of knowledge and excitement for this theater coupled with 7 years of experience serving healthy food to and hosting events for our community gives us great confidence in this endeavor.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
