About this project
Thanks, everyone! We did it!
Thanks to the amazing enthusiasm of all of you, we’re already funded! It happened so quickly, we knew we had to come up with even more rewards for moving forward. But these rewards aren’t individual pledge levels! They’re for EVERYONE that has pledged at least $10 by the end date of November 27th. So, we give you, right from The Wraith’s headquarters, the Overfunding Meter!
Stretch Rewards released so far!
At $14k, we revealed The Operative, a secret character from Rook City!
At $16k, we released one of the Environments, Rook City itself!
At $18k, we released the other Environment, the Pike Industrial Complex!
At $20k, we released the box art AND we are sending a set of 21 character specific HP and Damage Modifier Tracking cards to EVERY BACKER who pledged at least $10! Here’s a preview of Haka’s Tracking Card:
At $25k, we are also sending every backer who pledged at least $10 3 signed, numbered art prints from Rook City!
Here’s a breakdown of the upcoming levels!
We will continue to release card arts and information at every $2k level onwards.
At $30k, we will be sending every backer who pledged at least $30 a totally awesome Rook City t-shirt along with the rest of their rewards! Check this shirt out!
At $40k, and this one is SUPER exciting to us, every backer who pledged at least $10 will receive with the rewards exciting alternate Baron Blade cards! These new Villain Character Cards will allow you to play with the existing Baron Blade deck, but with a very challenging twist! He has abandoned his TerraLunar Impulsion Beam plan, as the Heroes quickly defeated him before, and now plans to . . . well, I’d hate to ruin the surprise!
At $50k, we’ll be beside ourselves. That seems impossible. However! If we do hit $50k, we have an AMAZING product that we’d like to produce that this would help us fund and would directly improve everyone’s Sentinels of the Multiverse experience! It’s certainly a far-off dream, but we’d love to have the chance to share this potential awesome plan with you!
So! That’s the plan so far! Any questions? Let us know! We love answering your questions.
ABOUT THE SENTINELS OF THE MULTIVERSE: ROOK CITY PROJECT
Who are we?
Christopher Badell, writer, and Adam Rebottaro, artist, had an idea for a game about a year ago. They started making that game, just for themselves, and showed it to their friend, Paul Bender, who convinced them to launch a company. The three of us have worked together every step of the way ever since! We are Greater Than Games, the new independent gaming company that just released Sentinels of the Multiverse!
What is Sentinels of the Multiverse?
Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative card game in which 3 to 5 players control a team of super powered heroes battling a dastardly villain. Sentinels of the Multiverse, or SotM, provides players with an innovative, streamlined game play experience that is easy to learn but requires strategic, team-based thinking.
Sentinels of the Multiverse was released at Gen Con 2011 to a fantastic reception! The Greater Than Games booth was constantly busy at both Gen Con and at PAX Prime, where we sold out of games! We are now in the process of developing our first expansion: Rook City, and we need your help to get it printed!
What is Rook City?
Rook City is a gritty urban expansion for Sentinels of the Multiverse, introducing 2 new edgy heroes, 4 terrible villains, and 2 dangerous environments! Not only does Rook City expand the Sentinels of the Multiverse game, it also brings in new mechanics to deepen your game-play experience!
What is our planned schedule for the expansion?
The heroes, villains, and environments for the Sentinels of the Multiverse: Rook City expansion have already been created, and the Alpha version of the rules are already written. Playtesting and art will happen simultaneously over the course of the next 3 months. The game can then be sent to the printer, which has a turnaround time of around 1 month. If we raise sufficient funds to go forward with printing, we will release the expansion at PAX East the first weekend of April, 2012. Contributors to the Kickstarter will receive their copies of Sentinels of the Multiverse: Rook City significantly before the release date, as they will be shipped their copies as soon as we get them from the printer!
What is the money for?
100% of the money we gather from Kickstarter will be used to pay for printing costs or for the cost of making/delivering awards (shipping, etc). If we raise significantly more, the extra will go into a larger print run, bringing the cost of the expansion down, and in upgrading the already existing rewards. We have lots of exciting ways in which each reward will get significantly better at certain amounts of money raised, so test us! Make us have to give out even better stuff!
Why should I pledge for this project?
Sentinels of the Multiverse has already been met with great critical acclaim. We expect Rook City to be received even more warmly, as it significantly improves upon the obviously successful model we followed when creating Sentinels of the Multiverse. For every $2000 we raise, we will release character art and short biographical information of one of the main characters in the expansion. If we raise more, we will continue to release even MORE information, including backstories on other important characters and exciting art sneak peeks!
If we raise significantly more, we will begin producing online comic-books around the characters of Sentinels of the Multiverse, as we would love to make those happen but need starting capital to get them off the ground.
Overall, our biggest aspiration is to make the sorts of games that we want to play. Games that have solid strategies and tactics, that require important decisions on the parts of the players but still have great storylines and in-depth narrative. Sentinels of the Multiverse is just the beginning of this, and your aid in getting our expansion of the ground will be invaluable. We have our goal set to $12,000, but this only covers a small fraction of the manufacturing and distribution costs of the Rook City expansion. If we are fortunate enough to raise even more than that, it will enable us to produce even more polished products and make future games a possibility!
