About this project
In the deepest pockets of space, there exist Power Prizms, leftover artifacts from intergalactic beings of a bygone era. Activating three prizms allows Ryderz to charge up and pass through to new destinations in the galaxy. The portal only allows one Ryder to pass through before moving on to a new location, so speed is essential to meet your goal lest you be left in the space dust. But the faster you go, the harder it is to turn, and if you run into another player's lazer, you'll crash! Who will continue on their quest, and who will be left behind?
Will it be the Galactic Waveryder - an adrenaline-fueled surfer who's seeking the next great thrill and most radical solar waves?
Or the Lazer Shark - a ferocious predator always on the hunt for her next prey as she seeks the fabled Blood Nebula to restart her species?
Perhaps the Super Sheriff - greatest of the Law Star Rangers who travels to the outreaches of the known (and unknown) galaxy to bring the universe's criminals to speedy justice?
Or will it be the Phantom Cosmonaut - the ghost of a long-distant era whose true quest is a mystery to those he encounters, but whose speed is without question as he seems to move in the blink of an eye?

Each copy of Lazer Ryderz comes as a complete box set with pieces for up to four players stored in individual organizational trays. The box is shaped like a collector's case of VHS tapes, with each player's organizational tray shaped like an individual VHS slipcase!

Captain Cosmic - a hero from our hit cooperative comic book card game Sentinels of the Multiverse - blasts through space as a Lazer Ryder, seeking to unlock the power of the ancient Prizms. Other Ryderz - beware! Captain Cosmic's powers allow him to create golden constructs in space that can block travel or even cause a crash!

Vanessa Long has traveled through time and space as The Visionary! Now, she takes to the cosmos in search of prizms of power to aid her and her allies on earth. Her mental powers allow her to neutralize prizms, making her a psychic force to be reckoned with. Through a combination of psychic befuddlement and raw telekinetic force, The Visionary can move a power prizm she controls out of the grasp of her enemies.
The Visionary, just like Captain Cosmic, will fit into her matching color's tray along with the components for the other character of that color.
In Lazer Ryderz, players take on the role of one of four Ryderz as they race to capture three prizms. Unlike most games, Lazer Ryderz does not use a set board; instead, your table is the board! Players use individual straight and curved lazer pieces to create their path to victory. Your line must pass fully through a prizm on the table before you can capture and score it. But precision is key as you navigate the ever-changing board, as crossing another player's path will cause you to crash! Keep in mind, though: the faster you're going, the harder it will be to turn as you try to maneuver around the board!
Each player will have a starting Launch Point and track pieces with chevron ends to allow for quick and accurate track placement. Once a track section is placed, the character piece can simply slide down the track to the end.
Lazer Ryderz features simple and intuitive gameplay that is easy to grasp, with all the best parts of a racing game and a tabletop strategy game without a track or all the barriers of entry. Check out our rules video below to learn more specifics.

The Lazer Ryderz Soundtrack is a completely original creation from the minds of Trevor Casterline (our genius videographer and composer) and Jean-Marc Giffin (the rad musical talent behind the Sentinels of the Multiverse: The Video Game soundtracks). This totally-tubular soundtrack includes the Lazer Ryderz theme song, theme songs for each character, and more! In fact, the music heard in videos on this page are from that soundtrack!

Given our confidence in the awesomeness of Lazer Ryderz, we have lots of lazer-licious stretch goals planned! Now that we've officially funded the core game and Capt Cosmic Promo Character with unique player powers, let's talk about stretch goals!
40K - Every backer will receive Visionary as a Promo Character. Just like every character in the core game, Visionary comes with unique player powers to allow you to create specific strategies to help you race to the final prizm!
50K - We will add spot foil to components throughout the game and box to really help make those lazer lines shine! Items such as prizms, box "stickers", and character standees will have highlighted areas with reflective colored foil.
Anthony Amato and Nicole Kline are game designers living in Philadelphia. The duo, better known as Cardboard Fortress Games, released their first game, RESISTOR_ , last year. Since then, RESISTOR_ has gone on to become a Table Select at IndieCade, a nominee for the Game of the Year at the Philly Geek Awards, and was in the Indie MEGABOOTH at PAX West 2014 and PAX East 2015. Lazer Ryderz is their second game and, much like RESISTOR_, hits on their nostalgia for great 80s movies, Trapper Keepers, and science fiction.
Basil Murad is a self taught illustrator and motion designer, and since 2014 has focused on creating 80s inspired work under the BLOOD+CHROME banner. Having started with logos and album covers for various synthwave producers such as Futurecop! and Highway Superstar, he’s most recently worked on creating animations for Trials of the Blood Dragon, a game developed by RedLynx and published by Ubisoft, and continues to involve himself in projects of all kinds across various media
Trevor Casterline is the owner of Sheepshead Studios, a videography and photography company. When he's not working the wedding scene he has the opportunity to spend time creating videos for his newly found passion - board games. He has written, animated, filmed and edited for numerous Kickstarter campaigns and Tournament Events. Currently, his work can be seen on this Kickstarter as well as the Spires campaign by Nevermore Games. Lazer Ryderz gave Trevor the unique opportunity to bring his hidden talent of music-composition to the forefront as he collaborated with Jean-Marc Giffin on the Lazer Ryderz Soundtrack.
Jean-Marc Giffin is a game developer and music composer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is a part of the Handelabra team, working together to bring Sentinels of the Multiverse to life in the digital realm. He barely remembers the 80s, but being born right smack dab in the middle of the decade left a strong impression on him. He is now on a quest to explore the sythny waves and the campy themes of yesterday, and bring them back... to today!
Jennifer Closson is the Visual Design Manager for Greater Than Games. She has been a member of the GTG team for 2 years, and wears many hats as graphic designer, project manager, creative director, and serial apologizer. She has worked on games such as New Bedford and Spirit Island.
For US and Canadian backers, shipping will be $5.
Unfortunately, we can't offer the same outside the US and Canada, because it is simply too expensive. However, any EU orders will be "EU Friendly" in that they will not incur VAT or customs fees on delivery.

We know that international shipping is annoyingly expensive; believe us, we are just as annoyed as you are! However, to help offset the shipping costs a bit, we have a workaround. For those of you living outside of the US and Canada, if you have a bunch of friends who want to support this project, just make one group pledge for as many games as you’d like, and you'll all receive every stretch goal! Just send us a PM first letting us know what you are doing so that we can watch for it and help you out.
Risks and challenges
As with any project that involves the production and manufacture of a good to be delivered, there is certainly a real chance for hiccups, delays and more than one or two gremlins gumming up the works along the way. Many boardgame projects on Kickstarter have been seriously hampered by art production delays, problems with an overseas factory, missing units and one shipping snafu after another.
Luckily, we have a few projects under our belt, and have dealt with many of those snags along the way. We try to plan for all contingencies, and we've been fairly successful with that in our past projects.
We won't lie - stuff happens. Delays can occur. Sometimes you have to go back and forth on color samples six times just to get the color right, and even then the color isn't perfect. But what we do promise is that we will hold ourselves to the same high standards we expect from other board game publishers and our previous projects, and we will be completely honest and open with each of you every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
