Granting Dark Gifts

Greetings Lovecraft lovers!

So, we’re mid-campaign and things are going pretty well - we’re almost to those Mi-Go! Obviously we think we can do better with all of your enthusiasm on the internet, and with our presence through demos at GenCon, but our funding projections are looking cool. It doesn’t mean we can just sit back - we need everyone who is jazzed about this project to spread the word as far and wide as they possibly can. Even if you can’t afford the base game pledge, you can help - and, hopefully, you might be able to pledge by the end of the campaign!

For today’s update, we thought it would be cool to share with you some of the Elder God Dark Gifts that are available to Cultists using The Ceremony Location on the Fate Clock in order to give them an awesome power. Depending on the god you serve, you can depend on an extra, variable advantage whenever you call upon your dark lord. Some have been revealed - such as Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth, Tsathoggua, and the promotional Azathoth - but here are three others in the base game that you can use to further your dark purposes.


Blasphemous Vengeance

Draw two Curse Cards. Choose a Cult, and give one of the Curse Cards to the player to that Cult’s left. That is the Curse for that Cult. Discard the other card.



Discard all active Winter Squall tokens. Draw 2 Winter Squall tokens and place them on 2 different Locations, face down. Destroy 1 [Investigator] or 1 [Cultist] from each of those Locations. When any Cult activates a Location with a Winter Squall token, reveal the token and apply the revealed effect. Then discard that token. 

The possible Squall tokens are: 

  • Gain an Elder Sign 
  • Choose One: Become Cursed, or move back 1 on your Summon Track 
  • All Cults on this Location Sacrifice 1 [Cultist] from here then remove 1 [Elder Sign] from their Lodge. 
  • Place all Investigators at this Location onto your Lodge.
  • Discard your hand of Spell cards, then drew 2 Spell cards. 
  • Blank (the bluff token)


Weaver of Worlds 

Place 2 of your [Cultists] onto any other Lodge (1 from the Abys and 1 from your Lodge). When a Lodge with your [Cultist] places 1 of their [Cultists] onto a Location, you may place 1 of your [Cultists] from their Lodge onto that Location as well.

      Yep, sorry. That text has been further clarified. "Choose a Cult to Curse. Draw two Curse cards and choose one as that Cult's Curse. Give the chosen Curse card to the player to that Cult's left and discard the other."

      Bokrug's gift seems a bit awkwardly worded. I assume this means the bokrug player chooses a cult. That cult will be cursed. Step two bokrug player hands cursed card to the player left of the selected cult for the purpose of monitoring the trigger conditions?
