About this project
Ground Nine was founded by Jose Torres and John "Minnesota John" Ness. It is a clothing and hat accessory company named after an excerpt from the "Art of War," written by the legendary warrior-philosopher, Sun Tzu.
In a chapter entitled; "Nine Grounds," Sun Tzu speaks of a time when an army's only option is to fight to survive. This concept of fighting for survival embodies the essence of Ground Nine. It is a blend of fashion and philosophy.
PREMIUM HAT ACCESSORIES
At the core of Ground Nine's upcoming product line, is the "G9 Hat Clip." It is a unique accessory designed to enhance urban head apparrel.
The G9 Hat Clip is a premium hat accessory and our signature piece. Product-wise, it is what separates us from any other major or independant clothing label. They were created as our response to "the Hat Sticker Trend."
A few years back, people began leaving the factory stickers on their hats. We noticed this happening everywhere from the barber shop to music videos. It became so wide spread that virtually all hat manufacturers started adding these metallic stickers to the brims of their hats. Bloggers and Youtubers have been debating it. It had become a world-wide phenomenum. This is what truly inspired the creation of the Ground Nine Hat Clip.
We felt the Hat Game needed something new. Something that made an impact...a statement. We wanted something that could be more personal. We wanted to make it accessible to the people. After a lot of hard work, as well as, trial and error, the time has come. With your support, we will be able to bring something new to the world this summer when we officially launch Ground Nine.
THE PROJECT GOAL
The goal of this project is to raise the necessary funds to remake our current clips. When we started this venture, we had no experience in manufacturing metal products. We've definately learned a lot of things the hard way. Our very first run produced clips that we eventually realized were too small. We went big our second run. These are the clips you see in most of our photos. In the process, we changed the base metal that supports the gold and nickel plating. Over time we noticed quality issues. Ground Nine is important to us, and we want our products to reflect our character. We have high standards that haven't been met until recently. With the creation of the 2012 Commemerative Clip, we have mastered the formula. Now we are ready to move forward. The new Crown and Crest Clips will look almost identical to the naked eye, but the subtle changes in materials will produce a high quality clip. This will all be done with your help, and for your efforts, you will be rewarded.
For your generous pledges we are offering several rewards. They are listed to the right side of this page. Below are pictures of our various rewards. For more detailed information, we invite you to visit our official website at GroundNine.com.

Risks and challenges
We can honestly say that we foresee few risks in this project. As mentioned before, we are heavily influenced by the "Art of War." In this book, there is an emphasis on preparation and eliminating problems before they arise. We have made our best calculations on the necessary costs of this project as well as, the necessary time needed to fulfill our rewards. Any delays that occur will be out of our control. Life is unpredictable. We can not promise that this project will be completely flawless from start to finish. We do however, promise to do everything we can to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We've backed almost 50 projects at the start of our first created. That being said, we're confident that we know what it takes to make a great Kickstarter experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
