About this project

"How to Make a Book Safe" is about 4400 words long, a Lovecraft-homage set on a quiet college campus.  (At least, it's quiet when the story starts.)  As the video says, it plays off the ideas of dangerous books, the perils of excessive faith, and the equal and opposite dangers of disbelieving things that are unlikely, but all too true.  I'm asking $530 for it, if I raise that many pledges, I'll release it for free, under a Creative Commons license, on my web site.

To read other stories already licensed and paid for in this fashion, just click here.  "How to Make a Book Safe" most strongly resembles "A Wind at the Window" and "Icke."

If you read those stories and like them, I'm offering others as stretch goals.  If the total pledges hit $1105, I'll also release "Unripe Fruit," 4800 words of low fantasy in which people just on the edge of adulthood go out into the woods and make very, very poor choices.  Should I have the good fortune to hit $2005, I'll also put out "The Entity," a 7560 word thematic mash-up between Doctor Who and HPL.

Click the link, read the stories, pledge if you want more of the same (only different).  It's just that simple.

Thanks.

-G.

Risks and challenges

I would deem this a very low-risk project. All three stories are finished and edited. Most of the reward projects are finished, except for three book-safes which are about a third done each. I haven't recorded the podcasts yet, but barring laryngitis those shouldn't be impossible. Hell, even if something happens to my throat, I'm married to a woman with a lovely voice who's willing to pitch in.
