"The tightrope my music teeters upon is the struggle between tradition & progress, history & fantasy. I am the songbird & the worm."

Update Description: August 15th 2011

Thank you all so very much. The minimum goal is achieved and with still 5 days left go you can still back this project and be part of creating an album that will be timeless.

The more resources we have the more prepared we can be. No words at this time can express my gratitude for all those who believe in me and this new album of new songs. Our family of Sponsors is still growing and I hope those of you who still have yet to consider backing this campaign will do so before it ends in a few days.

With Love and appreciation

Update Description: August 12th 2011

With a week left of this Campaign I thought it would be a nice to let you in on some recent developments. It's with much joy and enthusiasm that I can announce the new album will be created and recorded in one day at San Diego's premier and world class 8000 square foott recording facility, Studio West. The album "Have A Nice Yesterday" will be Produced by Mr. Peter Dyson.

The 8k goal is the minimum we need to make this a reality. After the small 5 percent Kickstarter receives along with sending the rewards the generous backers that leaves us just under 7k. To pull this off we are using some of the best "Jazz Cats" in Southern California. There will need to rehearsals and an immense amount of preparation leading up the One Day Session. The more resources we have the more we can rehearse and prepare.

In a few short weeks me and my trio leave for our third tour of Europe in a year. We are excited to share some concerts in Holland with my dear friend AJ Croce. Along with the performances / Radio & Press we are looking forward to our performance on the National TV Show "Free Sounds" airing in The Netherlands Sunday September 11th. A one hour special that we recorded 'Live" in Amsterdam this past March.. It's the first time in that shows 20 year history that it has dedicated the entire show to one artist.

We return late October and begin preparing to record the new album sometime in November. There is a possibility that I can have copies in the hands of all those who believed & backed this project by Christmas.

Thank you so very much

Warm Regards

Update Description: July 26th 2011

A few weeks ago I met my longtime pal Tom Brosseau for breakfast at The Mission Cafe in North Park. Instantly I rambled on and on about this new collection of old sounding songs I had just finished writing. How excited I was to one day record this new music "Live" with a Big Band Orchestra. Tom sat listening intently while sipping on a cup of joe. He was wearing a San Diego Padres T-Shirt with the sleeves rolled up so show off his skinny white shoulders. I went on & on about "How I'd love to record this next album completely "Live", the way they used to make records way back when". Seems these days of "computer software recording technology" we are listening to music that never really happened. For 20 minutes I continued to explain how this has been a dream of mine and how these songs appeared exactly at the right moment. Then I stopped myself in mid sentence and said, "I'd never be able to afford to pull that off...". Tom put down his coffee and with his blue eyes fixed his gaze and said, "Listen Pagey, you can do this you just need to ask for help". He went on to tell me about our mutual songwriter friend Angie Correa who raised 20k to make her album on a web site called Kickstarter. You could almost hear a tiny brass bell go "Ding" above my head as a flickering light bulb hung over me. I bid farewell to Mr. Brosseau and immediately set to work on building a Kickstarter Campaign in hopes to raise enough capital to see this Grand Dream could come true.

Now I've never been the sorta fella who asks for money, I've never had much respect for it to be quite frank with you. I like to think of myself as independently wealthy, I'm independent of wealth. Hell I know there are certainly better conscientious organizations to donate your money to, or just to hand the homeless veteran whose standing out in the hot sun on the Off Ramp a few bucks seems like a good idea. So this ain't easy for me, but I wanted to see if the Universe wants to hear this music. I don't have the support of record company or a single investor who is gambling on some return. Its just me and hopefully you, creating something timeless together. An album of new original classic sounding American Songs by an American songwriter who is right on time.

So far with the generous contributions of many dear hearts we are almost halfway home. With less than three weeks of this campaign left to go I am asking for your help to be part of something that you can be proud of and happy to share with those you know and love. I have tried to offer different "Gifts" when you donate at different levels, but if there is something special I can do for you, maybe write a personal love song for your true love or a family member, anything just ask. 8000 dollars is the minimum we need to pull this off.

Thanks for reading along ~ Gregory Page (himself)

Original Description July 4th 2011

While on tour in Europe and Australia early 2011, I wrote a collection of 11 original songs in the spirit of the 1940's Big Band Era. While I was singing these songs to myself inside my head, loudly and clearly I heard the swingin' sounds of a Big Band Orchestra. On my previous independently released album "My True Love" (which was just nominated this year as "Best Jazz Album" by the San Diego Music Awards) I recorded a stripped down version of a Large Brass Band.

This new album, "Have A Nice Yesterday", is truly inspired by Big Band leaders such as Duke Ellington & Artie Shaw. It seems I have spent my entire career writing, recording & performing music, striving to create a collection of authentic Classic American sounding songs with a modern touch and a new voice. I feel so strongly about these songs that I am asking for your help to be part of something special and timeless. Someting for the entire family to enjoy, young and old to dance to. As an independent artist the challenges of recording such a project are as exciting as they are challenging. In my humble home apartment studio I can't accommodate such a recording session. My goal is to record this album 'Live" with the Big Band collectively in a sound studio with the proper recording engineer. Reliving the way recordings were captured in the Bad Old Days.

What is a BIG BAND Anyway?

The Big Band is a type of musical ensemble associated with jazz, a style of music which became popular during the Swing Era from the early 1930s until the late 1950s. A big band typically consists of approximately 12 to 25 musicians and contains saxophones, trumpets, trombones, vibraphone, a singer, and a rhythm section & strings.

I depart with my group for a self-funded tour of Europe at the end of August, returning home in late October. We are performing at 900 seat theaters and my current album "My True Love" will be released overseas on 9/11. We will return to the shores of America on fire and well ready to begin recording "Have A Nice Yesterday", hopefully around November if enough resources are in place. My goal to raise 8,000 dollars is the minimum we will need to make this dream a reality.
