"Diapason" (dya-PAY-zen) n. 1. A full, rich outpouring of melodious sound. 2. the compass of a voice or instrument. Gk. Short for 'he dia pason chordon symphonia' the concord through all the notes of the scale.
Thank you to the many generous backers who funded "Diapason" in just 8 days. The $2100 goal in 21 days was met on the 21st of November.
INCENTIVE: All Kickstarter backers of $14 or more will receive a special edition, signed copy of the CD.
Diapason's initial goal was modest, given the all-or-nothing nature of the project. Therefore, all extra monies received will go toward the essentials of producing a CD, including artwork and distribution.
"Diapason" represents the first-fruit of my work as a composer and pianist. The seven works are a brood of the imagination, the offspring of my mind.
Now, I need to create a complete recording of the music and publish it. Fortunately, the recording-session has already taken place; what remains is:
- Editing/mastering of the recording
- Manufacturing the CDs, including the cover art and design
The total CD playing time is about 37 minutes. CDs will be encased in a sleek jacket, and are to be delivered before Christmas. The album would make a fine gift for the holidays.
To view the scores, check out my profile on ScoreStreet. (For this you will need the free plugin, Scorch). There, you'll also find short descriptions of each piece on the album (just spot the solo piano pieces).
"Diapason" is a Joint Effort
THE GOAL: Raise $2100 in 21 days
This project will only be completed if the $2100 goal is reached. Pledged funds will be collected if that occurs.
This project is all-or-nothing!
Together, we can make it a reality: a first-run solo piano CD of professional quality.
Thank you for your support.
Risks and challenges
To complete "Diapason," I will be working with Big Bug Sound in Phoenix to finalize the recording; contracting with local artists and photographers to design the CD; and publishing with CD Baby, who will manufacture the CDs and facilitate digital distribution. I have chosen to work with these individuals and entities because they are held in high regard as professional and dependable. This minimizes risk in the completion of this project. Furthermore, I have a large personal and professional network to draw upon for help if need be. Completing everything by Christmas will indeed require focused effort, but I am confident that my collaborators and I will deliver soundly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
