Risks and challenges

• Costs
A lot of the time-cost of development has been invested already, the Kickstarter budget will cover future costs involving licensing, development, paying third parties for graphics and audio, app store fees, Kickstarter fees, beta testers, and some promotion. Should the project be successfully funded, there will be enough to complete the game and tutorial documentation, publish the game to iTunes and Google Play stores, and potentially create a Windows Phone version.

• GUI (Graphical User Interface)
This would usually be handled last, however to give the Kickstarter project more of an impact I completed a lot of this first. I forsee no issues with being able to complete the GUI. A large portion of the cost is covering licenses for third party graphical assets that need to be purchased for me to release them to the public.

• Audio (Music, Sound FX etc.)
I am not a sound technician by any means, I can use a synthesiser and mix and edit, however I think this game deserves professional music tracks and sound effects, so to both cut down time, and increase the quality of the game, I'll be paying professional sound guys for this. I already have fixed quotes for what the game needs that should be covered by the budget.

• Functionality (It working)
The core of the game is the matching grid, and the effect it has on several other properties, the feasibility of this has already been proven, and several beta-testers have been trying to break it for a month or so, relaying bugs to me that have all been fixable so far. I have a lot of big ideas for functionality that hasn't been released, and this is the only area of concern, however they aren't essential to the game experience.

• Third Party Asset Licensing (Legalities and Costs)
As with most games, certain code, graphics and audio will be of a third-party nature (e.g. code libraries, audio re-sale licenses etc.) these will need to be handled correctly for the game to not be retracted after publishing. However they don't pose a threat to delivering the initial pledges.

• Documentation (Creating a High Quality Tutorial etc.)
Whilst documenting the development and completing the tutorial, it will be shared with several junior web designers with no game design experience who will try to re-create the game based on the tutorial alone, I will be working with them to make sure the documentation covers everything you need to know, in an understandable format.

• Story Mode
The foundation of the story already exists, we have a protagonist, enemies, and a goal. If there was one area with the most risks I would say it was this, it's the least technical area, and massively subjective as to whether people find it impressive or not. If my beta-testers can't agree that the story is any good, then there's a small chance that the story-mode would be held back until a subsequent release, to make sure it doesn't suck.
