WHAT DRIVES YOU?
For many of us there's an easy answer to that question, or at least we've had the luxury to give it some thought. We're surrounded by mentors, supported by loving parents, or siblings, and we know we can succeed because it's a notion that has been instilled in us from an early age.
Because of that it's easy for us to forget, for many, the reality of their everyday lives inhibits not just the ability to answer this question, but to imagine a world in which they could even ask it. When your everyday life is weighted by basic survival, finding what drives you is beyond an afterthought.
Jens Pulver knows this all too well, yet somehow he found the strength to overcome the abuse he suffered as a child to carve out more solid future for himself and his family than his own meager inheritances would have allowed.
His story resonates. His story inspires. His story transcends the film that tells is, and has spurred us to find a new way in which to share it with the world.
Enter our GET DRIVEN 2011 Goodwill Film Tour which is on a mission to inspire victims of abuse and those still searching for what drives them, by sharing Jens' story and this film via grassroots screenings of the film to benefit at-risk youth programs.
Jens Pulver, director Gregory Bayne and executive producer Dylan Bruno are embarking on this grassroots fundraising tour, partnering with organizations, coordinating screenings of the documentary and flying to the locations to give live Q&As with at-risk youth. Additionally, they are providing the infrastructure so that anyone that wants to hold a screening can do so, and keep the proceeds.
GET DRIVEN IN 2011
Throughout the process of making JENS PULVER | DRIVEN we have received several requests from all over the world to screen the film at gyms, for events and fundraisers, schools and other organizations. While at first look the film may appear to be just another fight documentary, Jens Pulver ups the ante by presenting a very raw and emotional look into his past, opening up in a way few do to give voice to the victims of child abuse and domestic violence, and hope that the cycle can indeed be broken.
We want anyone to be able to bring this film, and Jens' message to their community, so we're embarking on this 'open source' tour allowing you to host your own screening.
So we invite you to GET DRIVEN in 2011 and join with us in our distribution efforts, and its rewards. Whether you're looking to fundraise for a cause, or wanting to bring voice to the issues touched upon in the film, or perhaps bring your community together for a screening in your gym...whatever the case may be, we want to support you and provide you with the tools to bring JENS PULVER | DRIVEN to your neck of the woods.
So you're saying if we pitch in the $300+ for this campaign we can plan and hold a screening of the film and keep the proceeds from it?
Yes, that is correct. You'll have a one-time license to do so.
Here's how it works:
1) Contribute at the $300 or greater level
2) Find and book any location that will play a DVD or Blu-ray, (and feel free to think outside the box on this, maybe it's a gym, a school, a hotel conference room), and set your own ticket price.
3) Use our marketing kit to promote your screening. And feel free to contact me for any pointers.
4) Have fun and sell or give out the DVDs we provide with the package.
5) Keep the proceeds.
It is our hope this will become a valuable tool for gyms, organizations, or individuals who have a passion for Jens, and his story to bring something positive to their communities, and perhaps raise funds in the process.
This campaign is raising funds to cover the expense of travel, screening locations, and screening packages associated with the film tour, including professionally mastering and encoding the film, creating multiple exhibition copies, as well as printing posters, screening packets, and postcards for the tour.
Additionally, we are raising the funds needed to cover distribution and exhibition delivery costs associated with our North American Video On Demand distribution (beginning July 1st).
* Please note rewards will begin delivery in early June (if you want to host a screening prior to June message me and we'll see what arrangements can be made)
