WHAT WE ARE UP TO
As part of the San Francisco "Pavement-to-Parks" program, we are transforming two parking spaces into a beautiful seating area where all can enjoy Valencia Street and linger outdoors.

Parklets are a response to the increased need for public open space. These realms allow individuals to engage with their surroundings in a way that is often prevented by the busy hubbub of city streets.
Outdoor seating is hard to come by in the Mission District of San Francisco. Pedestrians most often need to spend money in a business in order to enjoy space outside. This parklet will be a community space that anyone can enjoy.

We have spent a long time visioning, designing and submitting proposals to the City of San Francisco in order to develop a safe and intimate space for pedestrians to socialize, relax and appreciate their city from an alternate perspective. We ensured that this design integrated well into the Valencia sidewalk vernacular; for example, the floor of the parklet will emulate the unique grates on Valencia’s sidewalk.

WHAT YOU ARE FUNDING
Dandelion Chocolate will be matching the funds from this campaign dollar-for-dollar. That means every $1 backed puts $2 towards the design, construction labor and materials of the parklet. Also, every $100 backed will support 1 square-foot of the parklet.

We have set our Kickstarter goal at $13,000 as it is the minimum amount of support needed to build our basic design.
But we have BIG dreams and neat ideas if we are able to raise more!
With $20,000, we can include an awning, solar panels and elegant outdoor lighting. We hope that one day we can include a fire pit where marshmallows can be roasted and toasty s’mores devoured.
WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR THE FINAL STRETCH
We have acquired and paid for all the city permits necessary to complete this project. It took some time, but we have developed an exquisite design that heeds all city requirements and integrates well into Valencia Street's character. Your pledge will fulfill the cost of building materials, construction labor, and Kickstarter rewards.

Some of Our Rewards

About Dandelion Chocolate

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the Mission District of San Francisco. We roast, crack, sort, winnow, grind, conch, and temper small batches of beans and then mold and package each bar by hand. By sourcing high quality beans and carefully crafting tiny batches, we try to bring out the individual flavors and nuances of each bean.
About Mission Cheese

Mission Cheese is a small cheese shop and café in the Mission District of San Francisco that celebrates American Cheese.
The folks at MC are currently working on an exciting campaign to fund their upcoming sister restaurant Maker's Common. Check out their DPO campaign here!

Risks and challenges
At this point in our venture, the risks and challenges are few. We do face the likelihood of construction delays which may set back our final completion date but will not put the project's completion at risk.
