About

The days are long and the stars are bright in the summer skies. Gazing up into the sky you see a shooting star pass by you wish you could catch the falling star and put it in your pocket. Solstice Skies takes the fun of gazing up into the summer sky and pairs it with a twist on a classic game mechanic to bring you your chance to catch stars, put them in your pocket, and never let them fade a way. This competitive game is for two to six players ages six to ninety-nine, and takes about fifteen to thirty minutes to play. Come enjoy the longest day of the year by catching stars with friends and family.

Objective

The Objective of the game is to get the most points by collecting cards and exact pairs of cards into your points pile. You win the game by having the most in your pile.

Game Setup

Shuffle the deck. Take the top card off the deck and place it face down and do not look at it. Place it of to the side. This card is the super star card and is worth the most points. It will be revealed at the end of the game.

The remaining cards in the deck are passed out to the players as evenly as possible.

Each player looks at their hand for exact pairs (The cards only have three suites and one card that exactly matches). Take the pair and make a pile. This is now your point pile. You are now ready to start playing.

Game Play

Each round starts with each player selecting a card from their hand. Before the player places the card face down with the other players, the player decides which player they would like to take a card from. They can only take a card from the player to the direct left or the player to the direct right of them. The card is orientated upright or upside down to show which player you will take a card from (arrows on the card will help with clarifying the player you choose to take a card from).

Once all players have place their card face down in front of them, they reveal their card. The player with the highest number on the card gets to take a card first at random from the player that they picked. After the first player takes their card, they quickly look through their hand to see if they have any exact pair, and add the pair into their score pile. The next player then takes a card and the processes continues until all players have taken a card. Once all players have taken a card from another player they take the card they played in front of them and return it into their hand(If the card you have taken from another player pairs exactly with the card you have played, place the pair into your point pile).

If when the cards are revealed and two players cards pair exactly, each player takes the the card that have played and put it into their points pile. This round they do not get to take a card. The other players take their turns as normal.

If when the cards played have the same number the, suites come into play. The card with the brightest suite goes first, then the next brightest, then the next( Sun goes first, then the Moon, then the Sun). The round then continues as normal.

Ending the Game

The game ends when one player is completely out of cards. The player who is out of cards reveals the super star card(the card set out in the beginning of the game). The other players with cards look at their hands. If they have the card that exactly pairs with the super star, they receive three points they can add to their point pile. Once the super star card is claimed, all player count up the points in their pile. You receive one point for every card in your pile, regardless of the number or suite of the card. Once the points are counted whoever has the most points wins!

Multiple games can be played. The overall winner will be the one with three or more wins.

Coming Soon They will be great!

I started working on game design last year when I got into a competition to start a business. This game was created after I failed to get funded for the first game that I created. The game was suppose to be a horror themed game but changed into a whimsical game of catching stars. That is when I did all I could to make this game shine. After taking the game to a board game convention and had a positive response, I knew this game had a chance. Thank you for the taking the time to look at my project.

Risks and challenges

The risk for the game is pretty low. I have done a prototype copy of the game and the printer I will be using has done a great job. The challenge is to be able to get the game fully funded so that this game can get to the new homes by the end of July.
