In the not-too-distant future, paranoia and fear force those who walk the halls of power to turn the American military machine loose around the globe. There are those who yell fascism and others who cry justice. But a few in uniform see an army stretched thin and young soldiers lost too soon. When a secret plan is hatched to train raw recruits to deal with the savagery of war, a new kind of horror is unleashed. On the other side of the country, another battle is beginning on the campus of a small Liberal Arts college. A protest of legendary proportions will be waged—one that would shake the very foundations of society itself—and it begins with an epic road trip. These two forces clash on an isolated island and when they do, the unthinkable happens. You get un-dead warriors. You get a bloody mess. You get…Grave Soldiers.
Greetings Recruits, I hope you will join us, writer-creators Ben Soreff and Jeff Marvin, together with artist Jeff Zacholl, in making Grave Soldiers come to…life. We have turned to you and Kickstarter to make the 40-page full color first volume of our four-part series. The total creative costs for the book plus printing, shipping and fees will be around $11,500 and that's why we need you to enlist. That amount will cover all printing expenses, development costs, proofs, miscellaneous expenses to build the book, a website, and the fees associated with Kickstarter. When the project is successfully funded, we hope to have the comic book completed by January 2014.
Why Kickstarter? Ben and Jeff originally envisioned Grave Soldiers as a motion picture, but after the budget for World War Z blew past $200 million we began to think more practically. Our experience and network of comic book veterans can bring Grave Soldiers to life (so to speak). With your generous support, we can be in control and deliver a book that we know you will love.
The Budget: Here's what your $11,500 pays for.
$1,500 Reward Fees and Shipping
$1,500 Marketing/Website/Kickstarter Fee
The super-talented Bill Bryan is going to create an original Grave Soldiers sketch that will be included in the finished comic. Among other places, you have seen his work in Caliber Comics Oz series and Mad magazine.
Thank you so much for your support!
