About this project
I am using my artwork to share something I am very passionate about - the power of gratitude. I created Grateful Peoples to inspire people to practice positive thinking so it can change their lives like it did for me. The journal (with my art as the cover) is already selling in a few stores in my local neighborhood, Astoria, Queens, and I'm getting an amazing response to the art and message...
Here is the journal on sale at Ginger Organic, where we placed a copy by the register so customers can share what they're grateful for. We're almost done filling up the second book!
I'm really happy with the way things are going, but I need your help to reach more people! The funds I am raising will allow me to produce enough books in a single run to create the profit margins needed to better carry out the Grateful Peoples mission. Profits will be used for charitable donations*, creating journals with different designs, and getting started on the next project: Eco-friendly tote bags made of either hemp or bamboo (I plan to source the material for the bags from ONNO). Please check out some more art below available for rewards and thank you so much for helping me get my message out there!
*1% of sales will be donated to the Energy Up! Foundation. I've worked with Energy Up for the past 2 years setting up health education programs in schools in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Our mission is to fight teenage obesity by educating youth to the harmful effects of processed sugar. Learn more at energyup.org.
*Journals are made with 100% recycled paper and vegetable based ink.
*Art is completely free-hand drawn.
Below is a better look at the first page of the journal with the Grateful Peoples logo up top...
The next few pages talk about the Grateful Peoples mission, explain how to use the journal, and include some of my favorite quotes. The rest of the journal is blank lined-pages for the user to find and create their own gratitude practice.
"When you change your mind, you change your world"
Thanks for your energy and support!
P.S. If you prefer more copies of the journal or prints as a reward over the Health Consultations, get in touch and we will create a reward package just for you!
Risks and challenges
I expect to have an issue with delivery and storage, due to the large number of journals I will need to order to get a feasible price per unit. The shipment will be too big to receive at my apartment building (also my "office"), so I'm working on finding a local business that can take the delivery for me. As for storage, I can keep the books in my apartment for the time being. As I place bigger and bigger orders, I will need to figure out how to receive/store them in a way that allows me to efficiently run the business. It's an issue I'm aware of and confident I'll be able to make the right decisions once that time comes.
It's taken me about a year to get to the final version of this journal. I've been working on establishing the right relationships and creating a community of people that will help me expand the Grateful Peoples mission. I'm excited to really get going and for any problems that come up along the way. Whatever happens, it'll be a good learning experience!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
