420 weekend in London
This weekend people gathered in their thousands to attend a pro cannabis rally at Hyde Park on Sunday 19th April, and a sit-in protest at Parliament on Monday 20th April.
People gather at these events as a form of defiance and civil disobedience as well as to express their right to protest. But it is also an opportunity for lots and lots of like-minded people to relax, have fun and make new friends.
We were there to document these events for the GrassRoots documentary. And, we love to attend these sorts of events because they give us an opportunity to meet so many new people and to discuss what the cannabis movement (and cannabis itself) means to them as an activist, patient or both.
In the case of the protest outside Parliament though, it is a day where cannabis campaigners can gather outside of central government, be heard and be counted.
I also had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and talk about our film in a more public arena . Therefore on Monday 20th I went on live television (London Live) to discuss the concept of GrassRoots and also the pro cannabis rally at Hyde Park. It was quite nerve racking but I enjoyed the experience all the same.
We hope you've enjoyed some of the fantastic photography from our associate producer, Ross Hagan.
