In an attempt to forge spirits within experimental arts and performance through active engagement of audio lore, music, cut up literature, performance, sequential art and screen printing, Corum has now cracked the code of what he calls the "Fake Hospital".
Fake Hospital Book I: Never Use the Same Door Twice illustrates a shipwrecked mind wandering through a series of labyrinthine horrors, altered states and interplay between the unfolding mysteries of dream/reality of our magickal world using dense pen and ink line work. The sound scape uses a combination of Indian and South American winds, percussion ranging from goat skin hand drum to electronic tabla to drum machine, a biofeedback device, brass horns, analog reel tape, machetes, and older sampling technology creating a psychedelic blend of world and early Industrial music. The entire package is presented as a full stereo 12" LP soundtrack (aprox. 40 min) with a fully illustrated and multicolor screen printed double sided fold out poster (estimated size 40" X 24"), screen printed packaging, and an audio lore books-on-tape (created using cut-up techniques, recorded dreams and automatic writing) which contains a complete 90 min. full stereo narration of the Traveler’s inner monologue backed by an extended version of the soundtrack (to be professionally dubbed through National Audio company and packaged in a books-on-tape box) . All of this has been designed with the intent to perform Fake Hospital live not only as music and reading but also incorporating the visual aspects as projected sigils while creating relics (cassette/sequential art poster/ 12" record) that play off each other or can function independently.
I am seeking the support of friends, relatives, and fans of my music and artwork to help me cover the cost of the initial pressing of the 12" LP, mastering (by Timothy Stollenwerk - Sublime Frequencies/ Mississippi Records), LP covers (to be screen printed on), minimal screen printing costs (paper, ink, screens, emulsion), dubbing full stereo audio cassette, and the "books-on-tape" cassette case; all in an edition of 150-200 depending on the amount of interest. For those who desire to acquire the "art objects" and are unable to play a record or cassette at home, I will be offering free a download code along with the release. If I am able to raise funds beyond my initial goal of $$1,558.60, I would like to set aside some funds for an immediate West Coast Fake Hospital tour in the Fall and a North American coast to coast tour in the late Summer to promote the project.
Furthermore, any donations affiliated with a music label or publishing house will be credited as having co-released this project (if they so desire) and will be given a number of copies of the FH package at cost based on contributed amount.
