Beer for the People Here
The Back Story
Granite Mountain Brewing is what happened when the four of us - Amanda and Michael, and Audra and Damon - got together to enjoy good food and Michael's homebrew. Then got together again. And again. Our shared love of food, beer, and community ignited an underground beer tasting movement, bringing our favorite things together with ever more people. In a little over a year, we've hosted nearly 100 individuals at 8 tastings and made many friends along the way. It was clear to us, as word of the tastings spread, that there was a demand for more local, craft beer in this part of Central Arizona.
We may be the new kids on the Prescott beer scene, but GMB brings ten years of brewing experience to the table. Michael Stanger is the man behind the beer, blending influences from the farmlands of Vermont to the mountains of Alaska, the homelands of Idaho and now the high deserts of Prescott. These environments, communities, and travels around the world helped develop Michael's brews to the award-winning beers they've become (winning a total of 4 gold medals at the 2010 and 2011 Arizona Society of Homebrewers Oktoberfest competitions, the largest homebrew competition in the state).
Our flagship beers are Muddy Wash Milk Stout, Bradshaw Blonde Ale, and Thumb Butte Brown Ale. Seasonals might include Mesquite Smoked Porter, The Krampus Klaw (a spiced Christmas ale), Prickly Pear Blonde Ale, Oatmeal-Chocolate Stout, Pumpkin Ale, Vanilla-Bourbon Porter, and Lavender Saison - to name a few. There is no telling what Michael will think of next.
With your help, GMB will produce small batch, artisan beers, operate a small tasting room for the sale of pints and growlers, and have beers on tap at local establishments. We hope to work with restaurants and bars to create styles unique to their establishment’s personality or fare, and offer our flagship beers, seasonal styles, and experiments at the tasting room.
We're already on our way, growing Granite Mountain Brewing from a garage to a more substantial operation. Our 3-barrel brewing system arrived last month, we have a location in historic downtown Prescott, and we are in the licensing process now. To continue this momentum we are asking for support in the spirit of community that has propelled us so far. Funds raised through Kickstarter will help to purchase brewing equipment, make renovations to the space, and create the small, neighborhood gathering place that we envision.
