The G7 POD is like all other ledges, it does not have a UIAA certification and no parts of the G7 POD are suitable to anchor to. It is necessary to remain anchored to a suitable anchor on the wall via a suitable personal anchor system (PAS) at all times. We recommend a 22kn rated sling, or suitable strength cord certified for climbing.
The Storm Shelter has a rated anchor fitted inside the shelter so you do not need to have your PAS going outside the shelter. It is possible to attached the Storm Shelter to a suitable anchor on the wall, and to then hang the G7 PODs from inside the Storm Shelter. When doing this it is still critical that you only anchor your self to the rated Storm Shelter anchor. DO NOT ever anchor your self to the G7 POD it is not suitable for this. The G7 POD is a platform that provides comfort, it is not a safety device and it is not suitable for use as an anchor or as part of your anchor system. Always remain connected to the wall via a suitable (rated) anchor system.
We have tested the G7 POD extensively to evaluate how much use and abuse it can handle. We have had up to 8 people sitting on one G7 POD and it did not fail. Regardless we only recommend it be used by two people at a time and they must be anchored to the wall as explained above, not to the G7 POD.
