About this project
the contextualisation of a specific individual human life in the bigger picture of the universe.
have you ever wondered what our solar system looked like when you were born? well, now you can get the solar system set to a personal date, such as a birthdate or any other date meaningful to you.
this design project helps us relate to the solar system itself and find our place in the universe. we might all just be space dust in the big picture, but this project gives us a chance to grasp our own individual humanity and ephemeral time on earth. we all are part of the universe, so let's make it count!
a must-have if you ever get lost in the space–time continuum and are in dire need of your spacial and time coordinates!
I've made the design very accurate, well to a point anyway, as I had to schematise in part. the four dimensions (x, y, z, t) are used to represent a particular location in time and space. x, y, z are already predefined to the heliocentric view I've found the most pleasing design-wise. the orbital paths are illustrated by the gradient lines, illustrating the counterclockwise direction of all the planets. the size of the planets are not realistic but schematic, otherwise they would not be visible at this scale. the distances between the planets are also schematised and have been reduced in order to make all the orbits and objects visible.
your name, along with the Julian Date (time variable widely used in astronomy) corresponding to your chosen personal date are added to the design. each design is truly be unique and personal.
an unique and personalised design.
every design will be customised and thus each t-shirt / poster is unique. the final design will also include your name (or event title) and the astronomical Julian Date of your choosing.
you can either choose between a Julian Date with or without the UTC time specified.
for instance, the Apollo 11 Moon landing happened on July 20, 1969 at 20:18 UTC. the Julian Date of this event is JD 2440423.345833.
my birthdate is April 12, 1981. the Julian Date is JD 2444707.
I could precise the time. I might have been born around 20:00 UTC. this would gives JD 2444707.333333.
but I don't really care much about all those 3 and as I do not have the actual precise time of my birth, I prefer to just stick to the date JD 2444707 only.
- The T-Shirts -
because each design will be unique, I will have to print those t-shirts using DTG technology. DTG is much more expensive than Screen Printing. I want to keep the t-shirts affordable, but I still need to make a profit, especially since I'm going to spend time making each personal design. so I hope the rewards seem fair to you. once this Kickstarter campaign ends I will surely raise the prices.
the T-shirts will be printed by the awesome dropshipdtg.com. they are simply the best out there. great print quality and very decent pricing compared to other big companies, especially given the printing quality they offer. I cannot recommend them enough, if you ever need DTG printing done!
please note that the following T-shirts images are mockups. the actual T-shirts may vary from the mockups in color tone, design size and position.
- The Posters -
the posters will be printed on thick museum-quality and acid-free matte paper. available in 3 colors: pitch black, dark night and blue print.
they will come in 2 sizes: 12 x 18 in. / 31 x 46 cm and 24 x 36 in. / 61 x 91 cm.
update: now there is a framed poster option, the frames are in wood (the front is black). no glass but clear acrylic, so it won't shatter during shipping.
please note that the following posters images are mockups. the actual posters may vary from the mockups in color tone, design size and position.

now, a little about me...
this is my second Kickstarter campaign. my first campaign was for a porcelain sake set that is currently in production in Japan.
this was my first product design and it won the 2015 A' Design Award.
I've learned a lot from this first campaign, especially about dealing with a foreign manufacturer. for this campaign things will be go much smoothly. first I'll be working with US based companies and they will handle the fulfilment as well as the production. also, I won't have to wait to secure the Kickstarter funds before ordering the first samples. but samples production is more expensive, time consuming and complex than T-shirt samples of course. I've also learned that I should take in account shipping and packaging cost in the reward prices.
about this project, I'm on the Autism Spectrum and I recently got obsessed by the idea of seeing a specific date within the solar system. I spent weeks researching the solar system in order to make the most accurate model possible. when I get obsess over a particular subject like that, I just NEED to gather all the facts, data and images I possibly can, until I feel sort of satisfied and confident enough to tackle my design idea. accuracy and perfection are very important to me. but they slow me down as I'm really wasting a lot of time researching. it's the gift and curse of Autism really. that need to know and be sure to have all the data possible on the subject. and well, I think I know enough now to be allowed to make a solar system model! haha...
like many of you, I've always loved anything space related. and there is a zen quality I find in contemplating pictures of the universe. it helps me relax when I'm anxious, helps me put things in perspective I guess. I just always feel better when staring at the sky or the NASA website.
anyway, this project is very exciting to me and I want to be able to share this with lots of people. that's why I'm launching this campaign on KS. and I hope people will get as excited as me about making this happen!
if you like this project, please share it!
tweet, like, snap and and all that:

Risks and challenges
this is my second Kickstarter campaign, but I had to create a new KS account in order to publish this project under my design brand name.
check out my first campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1242873727/yozakura-sake-set
I'm based in France, but the printing and fulfilment is going to happen in the US.
the estimated delivery date is October/November 2015. but this is an estimate and not a date set in stone. depending on the popularity of this project, the shipping could be pushed back if I get a lot of backers, as I'll have to do each design manually.
so, in other words, the first bakers will be the first served!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
