About this project
You can help us fund new episodes of "Good News Baltimore" (GNB) a news and public affairs show with a twist.
“Good News Baltimore” is raising $12,000 through Kickstarter.com, which will enable us to continue producing positive news stories in Greater Baltimore. Good News Baltimore (GNB) is an organization that produces television programming that promotes positive news by highlighting leadership in the areas of small business, education, and public service.
GNB provides positive, progressive news to effect change to the negative perception of Baltimore on both local and national levels. We focus on uplifting and inspiring Baltimore residents to become advocates for positive action in their lives, their neighborhood, and the city as a whole.
GNB's mission is to promote news and current events in and around the city of Baltimore that are beneficial to its residents. We strive to educate, entertain and most importantly inspire. When identifying stories, we connect with community organizations throughout the city to learn about issues in the area.
Using a “Docu-News” style of filming, our content vividly brings to life new or ongoing projects in a way aimed to revitalize the selected community, and to tackle those issues head on. We film the stories of both community leaders and their organizations, then distribute those stories to the public via television and web-based media. We're especially proud that our work often inspires local non-profits and community organizations to get involved with their own communities.
We have barely scratched the surface with the content we've released thus far, every day we are learn and grow, and we want to be a force of positive change in Baltimore, helping it grow with us.
Please help us fund new episodes of "Good News Baltimore” by becoming a Backer of our Kickstarter campaign. GNB seeks community support in hopes of raising $12,000 by May 30, 2013. If we don't raise that amount, we don't get to keep any of the funds raised.
Raising $12,000 or more will allows us to create 5 new episodes (25 new segments). As we complete production of each episode, GNB will release a segment per week. This formula is calculated to build subscribers and future sponsorships necessary to keep the show in long-term production.
Did I mention we are giving away some cool stuff for helping out!?
When you get the USB bracelet you not only get a great (spy like) device but you get a flash drive stocked FULL of unreleased GNB video, pictures and a personalized message from the staff made special just for you.
Your pledge of $2,000 gets you all of the above listed items, producers credit for 5 episodes, and a custom made Good News Baltimore director's chair so you can sit and tell people what to do (in a positive directorial way).
Risks and challenges
We have done this before and one of our biggest issues are the people that lust negative media. We believe that those people have yet to be educated on the benefits of programming with substance and it will be an up hill battle but it can and will be done by us. (cape blowing in the wind)
Working with a small staff and limited resources:
Our entire staff consist of two full time team members (myself included) and 3 part-time volunteers. Everything that we have filmed to date had a staff of 1-5 people at best.
We own one camera for filming and one computer for editing. When we are funded we intend to use a portion of the funds to obtain another computer for editing. Having an additional editing station will result in quicker turn around time and productivity for our viewers.
A consistent obstacle for us is an endless supply of stories to film, edit and display and we are very far from having enough time or finances to cover it all.
Any additional questions and/or comments, please reach out to me. Thanks again for all your time and support, you're greatly appreciated!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
