After 2 albums & over 400 shows in 43 states over the past 5 1/2 years, Go Kart Mozart needs your help to make album #3 & tour the U.S.
What a long, strange trip it's been!
Since Go Kart Mozart lead singer/songwriter Vince Lay and I (Anna Kremenliev, drummer) had our first gig together at the Oakland Ice Center in 2001, we've been fortunate enough to perform our music together everywhere from our beautiful home (the San Francisco Bay Area) to Maine to Miami to Minot, North Dakota. We've played in clubs, festivals, coffee shops, living rooms, basements, backyard, antique stores, shopping malls, schools, radio stations, restaurants, book shops, and anywhere and everywhere else that would allow us. For every gig we booked (over 400 as Go Kart Mozart, another 150+ as Kid Moe), every song we recorded (2 full length albums), and every press received (dozens of articles from publications across the U.S.), we have been 100% independent. We have never had a manager, booking agent, web designer, graphic designer, publicist or producer that was not also a member of the band. In the past, we've supported all of our touring and album production costs from re-investing every dollar earned on album and merchandise sales and on live performances back into the band, and into our 1995 Chevy van, Muncie (lovingly named after the town in Indiana that we bought her in during a 2 month national tour, after totaling our old van, Christopher Drivin', in a snow storm).
With the money that we raise on this Kickstarter campaign, we plan to fund our newest album, which will be the first we have released since 2009. We are excited to be working with a very talented engineer and producer, Andy Freeman of Bay Area Tone (Eisley, Max Bemis, True Mad North). The album is due out October 18th, followed immediately by a national tour in support of it. For the first time ever, we are directly (and shamelessly) asking for the monetary support of our friends, families, and complete strangers who would like to be a part of Go Kart Mozart's next big project. We've done a lot on our own, but now it's time to see what we can do with a little help from our friends. We think we'll get by...with a little help from our friends.
