That Dragon, Cancer Mobile Release

Posted by Numinous Games (Creator)

We’ve been amazed with our Kickstarter backers’ passion and enthusiasm for That Dragon, Cancer. Thank you! Today we are sharing some news with you that we hope will allow you to share That Dragon, Cancer with a much wider audience of your friends and family.

That Dragon, Cancer is now available for iPhone and iPads through the Apple App store. We are really excited about this because we know a lot of people couldn’t play the game when it was only available for PC and Mac download. We suspect you have friends that don’t consider themselves to be traditional gamers who still play games on their phones. We believe that this video game has a universal appeal but that it hasn’t yet been accessible to people who don’t download games to play on their computers. We also know that people feel intimidated by the strong emotional content of the game, so your endorsement as a friend that the experience is valuable even though it may be challenging is very helpful.

If you know anyone that would be interested in That Dragon, Cancer now that it is easier to access on mobile devices please share this link with them:

We have more exciting announcements coming up later this month, so keep an eye out for our updates.

P.S. If you haven’t voted for That Dragon, Cancer yet it’s not too late. It only takes one minute.

Can You Spare 3 Minutes to Help Us?

Posted by Numinous Games (Creator)

Hi Kickstarter backers.

We have a one minute favor to ask you! Well, three minutes if you include how long it takes to read this! We’ve been selected by a panel of judges as finalists for the Future of Storytelling Prize. The award would provide great exposure for That Dragon, Cancer and comes with a $10,000 prize.

The winner is chosen by you. Will you vote for us? You simply find “That Dragon, Cancer” on the list and enter your first name and email address. It is a one-time vote. Your help would mean a lot to us.

If you want to go above and beyond, find 10 more people to vote for us too! It can be your co-workers, parents, facebook friends, anyone who likes you enough to do you a 1-3 minute favor!

Thanks so much. You’ve always been our biggest supporters and we’re proud of what you’ve helped us accomplish already!

With Gratitude,

P.S. We’ll update soon with exciting news about PBS airing Thank You For Playing (the documentary about the game) on televisions all over the country on October 24th, and our plans for a mobile release of the game!

P.P.S. If you have not yet claimed your copy of the game or soundtrack (and backed at those levels) send us an email and we can help you figure it out.

Kickstarter to bring Documentary about That Dragon, Cancer to theaters has 3 days left!

There are only 3 days left for you to preorder a copy of the film Thank You For Playing (the documentary film created about That Dragon, Cancer and our family) through their kickstarter campaign

As backers of the That Dragon, Cancer kickstarter campaign, you can get a digital copy of the film for just $20. We would really love to see the filmmakers David Osit and Malika Zouhali-Worrall succeed with their Kickstarter so that audiences around the world will be introduced to That Dragon, Cancer and all the love that you have infused in our game through your contributions.

Please consider donating to their kickstarter campaign and sharing it shamelessly with your friends for the next 48 hours, let’s help them get their last $5000. It turns out that if just 1 in 4 of our backers supported this project at the $5 level they would meet their goal and be able to bring Thank You For Playing to theaters all over the country, and we would be thrilled to see that happen!

Here's a link to their latest Kickstarter update with a deleted scene from the film where our team discusses the design of the park scene at the beginning of the game.

Thanks to Kevin Schut for raising funds to send us to IGF at the Game Developers Conference!

Thanks to the organization and support of one very enterprising backer, we are able to send me, Amy, Josh, Jon and Ryan C to GDC this year to represent our team at the Independent Games Festival where we are nominated for Excellence in Narrative and Excellence in Audio awards at the Game Developers Conference.  We're really grateful for the much needed financial support and it means so much to us that we're able to go!

(And if discussions on the intersection of faith and videogames interest you, then check out his work!)

Thank you for everything!
