Just two weeks left, can you believe it? What a long, strange, short, not-so-strange trip it's been. I really can't believe I've already reached my initial goal, and still have so much time to raise as much as I can in this campaign. The more I can raise over the $5K goal, the more I'll get to keep of that $5K, since Kickstarter takes about 9% at the end.
DON'T FORGET: Whatever doesn't get claimed from this fundraiser will immediately go up for donation on my website at http://www.gardeningnotarchitecture.com/contact/donate -- so keep spreading the word even three, four, or five weeks from now! Every extra dollar will go toward my budget for this recording experience: from travel to food, production costs, hiring musicians to record, having the album mastered and manufactured, and beyond!
IN OTHER NEWS: I finally finished setting up my "home studio" during a manic cleaning/organizing episode. I am about to send another finished demo to Steve, for a song I wrote two days ago at like 7am, and in less than 10 takes -- meaning: I picked up the guitar, started playing a couple random chords and singing whatever words and melody came to mind, and then 5 or 6 takes later I had a completed song in Garageband! Love when that happens!
I'm cutting way back on my "day jobs" (from 50+ hours to 40 hours a week, max) in the next month so I can focus on finishing the songs I've already been working on, and writing a handful of new ones so I can go into the studio with a ton of material to choose from.
I'm also considering possibly DRIVING from Seattle to Orange County, instead of flying, so I can bring more of my instruments/equipment with me, and try to save some money on airfare and checked bags, plus if I bring my dog with me I can save money on boarding him while I'm gone (although I know a couple of Backers in Seattle who might be disappointed by that, haha). If I drive instead of fly, I'm going to try to book a few acoustic house shows along the way, to play the new songs for people before I put them to tape. If any of YOU happen to be along that route, let me know if you'd be down to host a show and some house guests!
That's all I've got for you today. It's crazy how fast time moves, and how easily it can get away from you if you're not careful. It's a daily, constant struggle to carve out the time you need in order to do the things you love and live your life the way you want to -- but it's worth the fight! Thank you for inspiring me to keep it up!
I love you all,
