I'm with Greg, the display looks like a nice replacement for the collector's box. Can you give us a ballpark figure for the cost?

@Richard Kempter: The deck right now can be removed quite easily. There are still some changes to be made regarding the sizing and thickness of the inner lip but I don't see any problem with getting them in and out. About the unfinished edges you can disregard the first picture (our first prototype). This was added just to show our process. We plan to have burnt edges like the 2nd and 3rd picture. The front piece of wood will also be slightly thicker and there will be a polyurethane finish applied to the final version.

@Tiffany Fordyce: The sizing of the opening for the decks was just an estimate for these versions. The final will be tighter and the decks will be close to flush against the wood top (not jutting out like they are now). About the unfinished edges you can disregard the first picture (our first prototype). As stated above we plan to have burnt edges like the 2nd and 3rd picture. The front piece of wood will also be slightly thicker and there will be a polyurethane finish applied to the final version. We want to keep the cost down to make this an affordable piece but we are considering optional upgraded variations that could include a glass cover and outside frame.

@Rebecca Wood: You can add the price of the pouch to your existing pledge amount. This will help us hit more stretch goals :) However, if it suits you better, you will be able to add any add-ons after the campaign ends in our pledge manager.

Thank you for all of your comments! This is a going to be a unique one of a kind display, but we are still attempting to make this an affordable add-on for anyone interested. We should have a final price soon (tomorrow most likely).

That display box is gorgeous! I just hope the price isn't too crazy, but I understand you guys gotta make some profit on it... Can't wait to see more of it!

      Display box +1

Question: Will the bottom board be engraved as well? It would look awesome if it was, it would then show a complete picture even when I'm using a deck or two.

That display does look awesome. I do agree with Tiffany's "don't likes" below, but also see that your caption for the bottom photo pretty much covers them, so all is well.
The decks should definitely sit flush with the surface and with no loose space around them, but I am sure they will be, based on my experience of the other awesome items of yours I have.

Hope it's not going to be too pricey, cos it looks like a must-have (wallet permitting!)

Also, do I need ANOTHER Brain Vessel pouch? Of course I do! :P

So if I want the pouch do I change my pledge to add it now or wait until the end and add it as an extra later??

    9. Rebecca Wood on

      YES! On the display!!!!!!
      Hoping its not to expensive!!!!!!

On the display prototypes - What I like:
      I like the basic concept.
I like that the rest of the image will be engraved on the bottom to complete the picture when the decks are not in the display.
I like that it can be wall-mounted.
      .
      What I don't like:
I don't like that the size of the opening for the decks is different than the decks themselves, making the images not line up properly.
I don't like the unfinished look of the edges (outside and inside cuts) on the wood.
      .
      Suggestions:
Finish the edges with something around the outside, such as sanding down the cuts and applying brass plates to the outside edge to give the piece a more finished look.
Narrow down the interior cut to ensure that the images from the decks line up with the images on the wood. You may need a mechanic underneath that will allow you to pop the decks out from the bottom, but this will give it a more complete look.
Consider the possibility of applying the decks from the back of the unit instead of from the front and put a thin piece of glass or quality acrylic on the front to give the piece an air of a luxury and quality display.

Looks interesting. How easy will it be to remove the decks? Will the edges of the wood be finished off (looks like an inexpensive plywood was used to prototype which makes sense) or black like in the picture?
I'm probably not going to get one since I have limited space to display it but wish you well!

I'm very interested in the display. I was sad to lose the chance to own the collector box from the first KS. A display like this would be a very nice alternative to that box.
