GlowGuardian Riser Light
A universal lighting solution for your skateboard
GlowGuardian Riser Light
A universal lighting solution for your skateboard
Available today, there are a couple different options to stylize your board. But, we saw the need for a new type of board-extension in the lighting section. That is why we decided to create the Riser Lights, perfectly made for long-boarders, cruisers, skaters etc. What we want to share with you now is a durable product that raises the bar for lighting in skating.
We've put a lot of thought into how lights can be integrated seamlessly into all boards in existence. It's important to us that the lighting solution in no way takes away from the skating experience. We had to come up with a design that feels like it's part of the board, and won't fall off or get in the way when you're doing tricks.
Substituting riser pads with Riser Lights made it possible to light up boards with the sole impact of a tiny increase in deck height. Compared to other designs, the Riser Light also preserves the board by not requiring gluing or drilling lights onto the deck.
The Riser Lights extend the possibilities of your board seamlessly. The only difference is a tiny increase in deck height. The prototype seen above adds 15mm, but together with our manufacturing partner we've accomplished thinning the height increase to just 10mm.
A pain point of alternative lighting extensions is their temporary nature. They'll either fall off or be damaged when rattled or bumped. The Riser Lights are designed to outlast whatever exploits you subject them too. They have been tested to withstand railing, tall jumps and an assortment of other abuse. The only problem that has been observed during testing is with the on/off switches. We're swapping the slide switch (which would turn to off from the force on landing) to a push-button in the version you'll receive.
If you’re going for a nightly ride on your skateboard, you might be riding home from the local park. You know that its dark, but it doesn’t matter. You know the way home because you have taken that road a hundred times before. There is usually no one around at the time, but all of a sudden you see a car driving closely. But that’s not a problem, because the car sees you too and you continue home safely.
Situations, where drivers, bikers & pedestrians are not able to see you, can potentially have catastrophic outcomes. Brightening your board and the ground around makes you noticeable in the dark. Getting noticed can prevent a lot of situations from developing to catastrophes.
The Riser Light is long lasting and extremely durable. Once mounted it’ll stay there due to the easily rechargeable battery and design sturdy enough to withstand tricks and jumps. The 1500 mAh battery lasts up to 5 consecutive hours and the 3.0A quick recharge means it’s always ready to show off.
14 Ultrabright LEDS and clever interior design with light reflecting off inner features results in the ground lighting up uniformly. Providing approximately 1400 lux on the ground below your board.
Skating is all about feeling the board, so the Riser Light are designed to be as thin as possible at 10mm, and once mounted it won’t hinder you at all! Mounting the Riser Light is extremely simple and easy. Simply unscrew the current bolts using our kit, add in the Riser between the deck, then push in the supplied bolts, re-screw the nut and you're good to go.
Almost all skateboards are designed after the “New School” or “Old School” truck standards. We’ve designed our Riser Lights around this, which means with the 6 holes they will fit in any board between the truck and deck.
Pick between 3 different sets: 2x Red, 2x Blue and the Head & Tail which combines red and white in each box.
Included in the box is everything you need to mount and charge your Riser Lights.
Have you ever tried backing a project, later to find out you have to pay almost as much as you pledged in customs, administration fees and tax? We have, and we know it's a terrible feeling to receive in one hand the reward you've eagerly awaited and in the other a bill of hidden costs, nobody told you the size of. That's why we've gone the extra mile for you and included all duties and taxes in EU and US shipping. We can guarantee our EU and US backers not to be met by any hidden fees once the pledge and shipping is paid.
Our shipping is EU- and US-friendly. Shipping to EU backers include VAT and duties. US backers will not have to pay any hidden fees either.
Riser Lights also offers the newest member of the skateboard family – electric skateboards - something unique. Complying with laws of pioneering Esk8 states and countries, mounting our Riser Lights enables you to legally ride your electric skateboard in public after sundown. Esk8 has only just started being recognized as a legitimate means for transport. Legislations allowing the use of electric skateboards in public has been passed in only a few states and countries at this time.
In the two pioneering states, California (Bill 604, section 21293) and Michigan (Bill 5391, section 662), installation of font and rear lights are mandatory for skating in public after dark. The same is true in Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland) who are pioneers of Esk8 regulations in Europe.
The Head & Tail version of the Riser Lights complies with laws for Electric Skateboards in the pioneering states and countries. Our Head & Tail version means you can ride your electric skateboard on public property while the sun is down without fear of getting fined.
* If you live in a state not mentioned above, please inquire your local authorities about the legality of electric skateboards.
It all started with a skater from our class at Aarhus university. This guy had mounted his own LED lights with a custom battery underneath his board. At first this just seemed a fun gimmick, but when we talked to him about it, it seemed like a opportunity worth exploring. According to him, there was a lack of lighting solutions. He told us that he tried products that was attached with glue, but with no luck.
He ended up making his very own solution. Unfortunately he had to drill holes into his board to set it up. We wondered if there was a more sustainable solution, one that didn’t damage the board and still provided good light at night. We jumped right into the thinking box and had a blast developing a concept for the product. The team of GlowGuardian are all pursuing the same engineering education called Business Development Engineering. We saw a golden opportunity to try to create a product useful for all skaters.
We soon realized that the Riser Lights weren't only about looks. They also made skating safer. By using Riser Lights, you would always have a light for those late nights rides back home. Furthermore, we realized that electric skateboards are becoming more and more popular and some need a safety feature when riding after dark.
We wanted people being safe while looking good.
We pursued the project further, developed prototypes and tested them with skaters. The feedback we've received has been invaluable in improving on the final version, which all of you wonderful backers will receive when (if) we get funded.
We've found production partners in China, who have helped us apply modern manufacturing techniques to improve the quality of the Riser Lights further. Work has been put in reducing the thickness further, improving the structural integrity and charging the lights faster.
And now we launching here on Kickstarter to see if you guys feel the same way as us.
We are three guys currently taking our degree as Business Development Engineers at Aarhus university. The main goal for us as a team, is to create an awesome product and optimize through proper development initiatives. Which our education is all about.
"Hold up Team GlowGuardian, are you guys even skaters?”
That would be a flat no, or at least to some extent. Klaus rides a longboard for commuting to the university.
But hold your horses guys. One of the crucial parts of GlowGuardian’s strategy has been to test the product on skaters through the entire process. We knew beforehand, that to make the a success, then we would need the skaters’ opinions in all the categories. Commuting, trick skating and chill riding. Since there are different needs in every category, we felt like it would be best to focus on what we are good at, which is to develop and fix issues. while letting you guys do what you do best, having fun and testing.
Special thanks goes out to all the people who've helped out along the way.

Why you guys are important!
So as you guys know, we need your help. We think the Riser Light is a very cool product, but we want to reach all the people we can. We ship to EU, US, and everywhere else in the world and we would love for u guys to show your support or raise your opinion on this page, it is very much appreciated! <3
Also, the more people pledge the better future products can become, so guys & girls, Help us make this a success. Much love - GlowGuardian
Risks and challenges
There is always certain risked involved when a product hasn’t been made beforehand. We have done everything we can to work out shipping and manufacturing and have established plans with partners in production and fullfillment. However, not knowing the size of the production might delay manufacturing to some extent.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
