We are proud to present one of the most cutting edge devices in virtual reality. Up until now, most developments within the industry have been focused only on the sense of sight in VR experiences. However, what's the first thing that people do after they put on a VR headset? They try to touch & feel everything! Now this is possible with Gloveone!
Gloveone enables users to feel and touch any virtual object that they can see on the screen or in their VR headsets. If a virtual apple is shown on the screen, with Gloveone you will be able to feel its shape or weight, sense all of its physical features, and even smash it!
It is all about translating touch sensations into vibrations. There are 10 actuators distributed along the palm and fingertips of Gloveone, which vibrate independently at different frequencies and intensities, reproducing accurate touch sensations.
We have successfully completed our initial prototyping stage, and now we need your support to build a community of developers around Gloveone to create sensations never felt before. Moreover, it's very expensive to produce small batches of prototypes. That's why we need to manufacture more than 700 units in order to make it affordable for any user.
Thanks to more than one year of development, we have identified the features that are important for developers, gamers and professionals. Even though we are at an advanced prototype stage, our vision has always been to convince the final user.
Gloveone is all about haptic feedback. It doesn't provide space tracking features yet so, currently, we rely on auxiliary sensors like Leap Motion or Intel RealSense for hand tracking, but you can also integrate Gloveone with any other sensor or technology (e.g. Microsoft Kinect, OpenCV). Furthermore, we are studying the possibility of integrating Gloveone with absolute tracking systems like Lighthouse from Valve.
In other words, Gloveone is virtually compatible with any technology you'd like to integrate with.
Gloveone also includes a 9-Axis IMU sensor so you could make use of those data to improve the experience with Gloveone.
Gloveone allows you to execute commands just by touching your fingers. Four sensors located in your palm, thumb, index and middle fingers detect the contact between them, and can be used to fire a gun, grab a petal or to control the menu. Unlike other gesture recognition systems, contact-triggered commands do not suffer from false positives or negatives, which can be very frustrating for the users.
We’ve made a developer site available for you! In that way you could check that a lot of work is already done and that Gloveone is ready for the party! In fact, there are some units of Gloveone distributed among some of the most important companies in Perceptual Computing and VR just for making their technology compatible with ours and be ready for the new touchable-VR. Please, be welcomed to Gloveone developers at: http://www.gloveonevr.com/developer
Currently we are only Windows ready due the driver and service are only made for that OS. There are Release Candidate API, Docs, Runtime and SDK for developers and even more, there is a "Gloveone Manager" for Windows where users are able to pair configure and test their gloveone's.
In case of success, Gloveone will be compatible with Windows, Linux and OS X as well as a C++ Lib and a C# Wrapper. Depending on the sensors OS compatibility, Unity 5.x ready scripts will be published in order to use Gloveone with Leap Motion and Intel RealSense in the easiest and optimal way.
We are a CORE team of 15 very passionate and qualified people, from PhDs and engineers to artists, commited to bring our unique product to the World.
Gloveone will be delivered worldwide. We have established a plain rate of $5 for Spain and $19 for the rest of the world. In exceptional cases, some backers may have to pay customs taxes depending on the regulations of each country.
Riesgos y desafíos
We anticipate mass producing Gloveone to fill all our backers' orders, and in order to ensure high quality, manufacturing will be done in Europe. Since we are based in Spain, it is hard to compete with outsourcing costs but we prefer to achieve a top quality product without reducing costs that may affect the product quality and reliability.
If we are finally funded first thing we’ll do is to formalize a pre-contracted consulting service here in Spain for reach the “render” appearance of Gloveone as a final retail product at a cost of $199.
In addition, we will deal with CE and FCC certifications processes for reaching the whole market and public.Más información sobre el concepto de responsabilidad en Kickstarter
