WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
The best art and music in Los Angeles is when it’s found where you least expect it, and we think that theatre should be no different.
The idea of a concert-styled production of SPRING AWAKENING came to us one sunny afternoon when we were discussing art atop the roof of a four-story walk up in Los Feliz: tanning, drinking beer and jamming to Jack Johnson.
We decided to bring SPRING AWAKENING back to our music-loving roots.
As a theatre-concert hybrid, we aim to give our audiences the same feeling they get stepping into that East Village music lounge or that Sunset Strip bar, conjuring the same energy we all had at our first rock concert -- Ears ringing. Drink in hand. So damn happy.
By stripping away the theatricality, our audiences are left with art in its purest, most unadulterated form: the message, the dialogue, and the music.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY?
The heartbreaking story of SPRING AWAKENING and its vibrant folk-rock score is as poignant today as it was when it premiered off, and on, Broadway in 2006 winning eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score.
More notably, the source material and play upon which this is all based, with themes of teen suicide, pregnancy, sexuality and identity, is just as topical as it was when conceived in 1891.
Because these problems still affect teens today, we too often hear a tragic case of someone, like the young Moritz Stiefel, giving in to their sadness –
Their bullying. Their wounds. Their voices lost to the world as a whisper.
These are the people that NEED to hear this story.
As part of our artistic vision, we are using SPRING AWAKENING to illuminate the message of the LOVE IS LOUDER movement. We are actively using art to raise the volume of awareness among young people and artists alike.

WHAT WILL THE SHOW BE LIKE?
Above all things, this piece is driven by its pulsing score. We want the audience to feel and hear the soul of the story evolve through the music as they follow the characters in their journeys.
In fact, it is through the music that we are invited to get a sense of the two clear and distinct worlds: the world of the spoken and the world of song.
Don’t get us wrong. This will still be SPRING AWAKENING, and everything you know and love about it. But this will have the touch of artistic Los Angeles. The performers are some of the highest caliber local singers and songwriters, a well known LA rock band will add their own spin to the score, the audience will nurse beers in their seats. And every night, there’s an after party.
