SO WHAT’S THE BACKSTORY?
This incredible rock musical had its groundbreaking world premiere in Los Angeles over a decade ago... in fall 2000! And what was originally slated to be a six week run at the Hudson Theatre extended for months, becoming a sold-out theatrical phenomenon and a 'must-see' staple of Los Angeles theatre!
So just like that, this “pop opera” became an instant cult-classic among rock musical fans.
Four years later, BARE premiered at ATA for a New York City workshop in preparation for an off-Broadway run, and though that engagement never came, the loyal fan base for this show never waned. Since then, BARE has been performed regionally over a hundred times worldwide, received a studio album, and changed countless lives through its poignant message and electrifying score.
Our production marks the FIRST time in THIRTEEN YEARS that this show will be returning to Los Angeles, and we are thrilled to be bringing home the original version– preserving the work of Damon Intrabartolo and Jon Hartmere.
With pulsing rock music at its center, this provocative piece focuses on the coming-of-age of a group of high school seniors at a co-ed Catholic boarding school, each struggling to define themselves in the face of their relationships, sexuality and religion.
AND WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?
The best art and music in Los Angeles is found where you least expect it, and we think that theatre should be no different.
Our mission is to bring theatre back to our music-loving roots while aligning it with a social cause. With heavier orchestrations, concert theatrics and an ensemble of the best vocalists and musicians this side of the Sunset Strip, we aim to give our audiences the same feeling they get when they step into their favorite rock and roll venue – inviting them to not only see the story, but hear the story evolve as they follow the characters in their journeys.
And in a score with “hear my voice” as the anthem, there is no better piece than BARE. Because these are our friends: Peter, Jason, Matt, Ivy, Nadia... They are us. They are the people we have grown to know and love when we were younger. They are the people we envied, or even feared. Just like youth today, these kids are struggling to find themselves. They are searching for their voice.
With timeless themes of acceptance, tolerance and love, the music and message of this show are incredibly relevant. And in the face of the fight for marriage equality and anti-bullying, we are proud to align our production with the NoH8 campaign.
WHY DO YOU NEED MY SUPPORT?
This show is about community, and we want YOU to get involved! We need our BARE family’s support to raise the $5,500 we need to help cover the final lighting and sound costs for our run here in Los Angeles, to help transform the Hayworth Theatre into our St Cecilia’s boarding school turned thriving rock club.

Risks and challenges
Live theater is not easy. It's full of surprises and challenges. That said, our production of BARE will open this September at the Hayworth Theatre. We are fully cast, in the midst of rehearsing, and are moving forward with a creative team that has the talent, skills (and guerrilla producing savvy!) to make sure this show is just as incredible and moving as it always has been.
Your generous contributions will go directly into our technical budget. The size and scale of the look of our show, the sound and the lights, will be completely dependent on funding this project.
This will be the fourth production of glory|struck, having most recently brought the wildly successful SPRING AWAKENING, IN CONCERT to Downtown LA last summer (go ahead, Google it and see for yourself!)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
