Fannies in the seats....please read...
To All Our Loyal and Generous Supporters...
So after a long and challenging fund raising campaign, a good deal of public relations, and some unbelievably selfless and creative work by many, many individuals--it's almost showtime.
Our rehearsals have been going extremely well. I can honestly say that THE MUSIC MAN IN CONCERT will be a special event, featuring some of the finest and most spectacular musicians and performers you can imagine.
That, believe it or not, is the easy part.
The tough part, as it turns out, is getting an audience, getting "fannies in the seats" is the old showbiz expression. Our ticket sales have picked up a bit in the last week, but not enough to provide us with the confidence to know that we'll have sizable audiences on August 3 and 4 at 7:30 at Durgin Hall, UMass Lowell.
So I'd like to ask you, our donors, to consider taking a moment to pass the word to your friends and neighbors who might live in the Merrimack Valley. Point them to our web site-- www.glmt.org. Pass along our phone number--978-935-2099. Assure them that THE MUSIC MAN IN CONCERT, at very, very, reasonable ticket prices, is going to be worth seeing.
Frankly, we could use all the PR help we can get from you. Anything you can do to help us fill the hall would be more than appreciated.
You've already done so much for us, I don't like asking for more help from you.
But I think it's worth the effort. If THE MUSIC MAN IN CONCERT can succeed this year, we'll be back next year with a full scale show and another in-concert show. But we have to get over this first-year hurdle.
Thanks so much for what you've done so far.
